New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

I just wish that the devs would communicate with the community and just give us some updates with the hairstyles that is more than 'they're coming' or 'we're working on it.'

I'd love if next LL, or even before then, Yoshi-P ended up making a new post on the Lodestone sharing some concepts of what feedback they've recieved from the community about Hrothgar Hairstyles, showing examples of what we would like and sharing each idea's 'pros' and 'cons' if we chose that example. Obviously an example would be PROPERLY refitted Hairstyles for Hrothgar, with our Ears, with another being exclusively race specific Hairstyles unique to Hrothgar. Both examples allowing each face to share their exclusive hairstyle, which sadly wasn't changed in 6.1.

If the devs and community can come together to save this game after the nightmare of 1.0, we can work together to get some measly hairstyles working for the most unique race in the game. They just need to communicate with us and be as transparent as they can be, without getting in trouble obviously, and we need to continue telling them exactly what we want.

Communication is key to their success. We've seen it in the revival of FFXIV, we can see it again with Hrothgar and the hairstyle issues. They just need to meet us halfway and COMMUNICATE.

You should know by now how Anti-clipping SE is.. and looking at this hairstyle you can see they are so against it they'd never do as you suggested and instead float the hair above the head instead of attaching it lol

That's kind of what I'm asking though. Is there some conceivable reason why they might need to avoid clipping things in this way? It seems a strange thing to do if they don't have to, and I was wondering if there might be a genuine reason why they do it. Is there some way it could cause issues?

I assume they believe that clipping looks bad on them as a developer and that doing anything they can, even tho what they have created in doing so, to avoid it is better then leaving it in.

A lot of the players don't believe the same as them and that's obvious where the disconnect comes from. They might think the removal of ears to prevent clipping looks better but I don't think any Hrothgar player agrees. The fact that modders have fixed the ears, have added in high Def textures and alternate hairstyles within weeks or months of Hrothgar being made by SE an continue to fix their problems as solo or small teams shows a lot about SE's focus on this game.

We've been given the tale that with less content and a longer space between content they can fix and add more to the game and we've been waiting for the results and so far have received none. We've gotten less and less since ShB and yet we still wait for updates to existing features promised to us YEARS ago and yet we still wait. Classes are downgraded, content is reduced and more and more yet nothing is done on the promises of YoshiP and the Dev team. From housing promises years ago to racial hair and chr creation upgrade its still hasn't shown results. So why are we still receiving less and less if the payout isn't coming?

Honestly at this point SE should just download the data from the modders for Hrothgar and Viara hats and hair styles, say thank you, add a credit to the game and call it a day after adding the data. Short and easy the work already done for them...

I've seen 2 with the Snow hairstyle but that's it. Hope this doesn't turn into a "See, no one uses the hairstyles we worked 2 minutes on, so why bother!"

I still don't get why people care that the hair clips in most MMOs. It's not like you're staring at it in the middle of battle, or all the time.

But I feel like things clip all the time. Whether it be hairstlyes, gear, capes, tails, etc. Honestly, at times it feels like they've doubled down on trying to find ways to clip even more things. I don't see why they'd be so fussed now over some ears clipping, or whatever the issue is.

tell that to every caster since they phased out wands.

literally every hood, even class-specific ones, clips through just about every caster's weapon. glamming a whm, ast or blm is a lesson in just how much clipping are you willing to tolerate.

As an AST main, I can attest to that. But personally, I don't care about clipping, I expect things to clip in an MMO since it doesn't have the hardware and graphics engine of a AAA title.

it isn't if you or any other player cares or not, it's just that we've been given many excuses including one that implied clipping was the reason why hroths were so lacking in headgear/customization

it's just a ridiculous excuse when clipping exists in so many other parts of the game.
