There's already a ton of infantalized female races, I'd rather not go down the "rabbit hole" of cute expressive ears. Also I believe viera are more like hares, which seems less expressive, not to mention that animating these ears would also be a pain.
Hard agree, and, also, this is a thread about Hrothgar hairstyles, not so much how Viera ears react during emotes.
In an ideal world, your character would act the way you like.
In a normal world I would have some control over my appearance and people would perform at least cursory glances at hairstyles and not shove out 6 crappy ones and then have the gall to suggest they weren’t given feedback after railroading through the ugliest, most insulting, chunkiest garbage to the fans who had waited the longest to even be noticed.
In the darkest timeline (and yet, ironically, lightest hairline) we’d have crap like this happening:
And right now, we’re in the darkest timeline.
So if we can keep all our appendages inside the thread, refrain from talking a whole crapton about how Viera emotes cause their ears to react, or making bone-ears jokes, talking about translation ambiguities that don’t change anything and keep it on topic, I’d personally appreciate it.
Because all I asked for for Christmas was the hairstyles already available on my race, and what I got was a toupee for a headcrab, I haven’t heard anything from the dev team in a hot minute, and I was kicked out for emergency maintenance last night and haven’t logged in yet, am pretty much certain that it’s not because someone suddenly was sorry Hrothgar got done dirty.
The reason why I voiced my concern about the lack of feedback is because you're not actually telling the moderator what you want out of this. Everyone's worked so hard to grab SE's attention but instead of voicing what is it they would like, everyone's continuing the whole "These hairstyles are terrible, SE is a bad company because of x, y and z, 6.1 is ruined" only a handful of people have openly said that they would like more race specific hairstyles, or for SE to just rework the Hrothgar model ... I don't understand what your aim is by continuously calling SE out for their contradicting statements. Bare in mind, I've been more than vocal on the unfairness of the situation, I just don't want to see everyone waste their opportunity because they're caught up in a mob mentality and can't stop.In a normal world I would have some control over my appearance and people would perform at least cursory glances at hairstyles and not shove out 6 crappy ones and then have the gall to suggest they weren’t given feedback after railroading through the ugliest, most insulting, chunkiest garbage to the fans who had waited the longest to even be noticed.

We have given it. Most of us have made suggestions in this and the viera/hroth megathread.
I personally have spoken about shorter hairstyles and ones with larger braids and have agreed with others about the GW2 ones that put square's to shame.
All I see from you is whining that we're just complaining when Yoshi-P himself told us to talk about these issues on the forum.
Firstly, my comment wasn't directed at you, I don't want to have multiple conversations at once in a thread. Secondly, hardly whining - you have a habit of being hyperbolic when it comes to other people's comments, so I'm not sure what else to say to you.
For the past week I've seen nothing but callouts on SE's incapability when it comes to these races, which is fair enough but I've seen little to nothing about what you all want out of this. No need to turn on me when I was just voicing my concern.

You want a private conversation? Take it to notes/PMs. Don't get snippy at me because you shouted in a public discussion and the public shouted back.
Dude, you're the one who butted in a @ that wasn't even directed at you, and then accused me of whining? How was I snippy at you when you were the one that said a bitchy comment to me first, for no reason? lmao
I'm sorry my comment that wasn't even directed at you offended you(?)

I have been thinking a bit about the Hrothgar ears situation. To try and find a possible solution to the problem.
Every Hrothgar head has a different type of ears for their respective face, as well as the placement of the ears is different depending on the head. This means that when the devs want to add new hair they would need to make 4 variants of it for every new hair. Which is a lot of work. A thing they could do is to separate the ears from the head mesh and create a set of general ears that would fit with all faces and combine those to the head mesh (keeping them at a small distance like the Miquo'te ears).
But what of the uniqueness of the head ears? You might be asking.
Well, that is where the ear tufts from the facial features come into play. They could create these ear tufts to make them look more unique while keeping the base similar to help with the workload. For a good example of this look no further than Viera's ears, they look different but the first few rows of faces from the head up are the same and going up the mesh towards the tip of the ear they take a distinct look (a good example is the "Floppy" ears that perk up then from the middle of the mesh are extruded downwards).
It could be a good solution that would require only head fitting for the hair rather than head + ears fitting.
Not sure why you're particularly addressing me, when I did not make jokes, nor did I bring up the topic of viera ears, just simply responded after explaining that the hrotghar ear stiffness has nothing to do with ear placement.
Bones
As much as it sucks, this is nothing new or specifically indicative of Hrothgar getting less attention than other races. My male Miqo'te has a hairstyle that you can see daylight through on multiple angles less extreme than that screenshot, and I've come across occasional others where you can see into the hair model through gaps close to the head.
I have noticed that hairstyles with exposed hairlines seem to always float slightly over the head, even though I would have thought the more effective approach would be deliberately clipping it into the head. Is there a reason why they would need to do this? Some are race-exclusive so it's not just a matter of bad refitting. Likewise, is there a reason they would need to cut holes in Viera hairstyles for the ears instead of just having them sit on top?
