Thank you for taking the time to type all of this out, these are excellent suggestions and I agree with every single one of these. Could folks go back and like this post? It deserves more attention and appreciationHi! As the devs asked us our feedback, here I'll just give mine.
My Background
First and foremost, I must say, I am a professional 3D Artist working in the game industry for more than 10 years now. I have a deep love for the Hrothgar as they are the only race that appeal to me in the game. Although I do not have the most extensive knowledge about FFXIV engine, I do feel like I understand a lot about the difficulties the devs see in making more Hrothgar Hairstyles. -snip-
What I want to know is why these hairs? Why see how they are, not being attached to the skull, light going through them, mutating the skull and go "Yes, this is a quality we can accept in our game, ship it"
You're telling me they can change entire 2.0 Dungeons, program AI to go through these dungeons, change entire boss mechanics for said dungeons, even change the lighting of said dungeons but giving Hrothgar hair that let them keep their ears, something that modders have been doing for years is impossible?

So, those awful hairstyles are out and do I see any Hrothgar that changed his?
NO not even a single one I came across changed their hair and everyone I asked was just dissapointed and frustrated with what SE did to us.
And now on the Garo PVP Event. There are soooooo many COOL armors there for the new currency.
But you know what? We STILL can't wear the hats from there. Tried to get the SCH hat but NO we don't deserve any headgear......
Nearly all of my Hrothgar friends already left the game forever and a few used a Fantasia so they can finally enjoy the game with proper hairstyles.
I'm waiting for the next liveletter and if we don't get any infos or gear I'm gonna quit as well.
Like every new patch I'm just getting more dissapointed and more frustrated. Especially when I see so many others showing their cool glamours.
I've waited for years now and they STILL refuse to properly adress this problem.
And I'm tired of people telling me to use mods! Why can't I show some of the coolest hairstyles and hats to the few friends that're still remaining in the game?
Sorry guys...... I love the community of FF14 and I really don't want to be mad against devs like yoship etc., but I can't take it anymore. I'm so burned out.
You know it's pretty bad when people have to resort to mods to begin with, knowing full that they're not allowed, so people risk their accounts to actually have their character look normal lol
I've been trying to run around the different cities hunting for a Hroth with any of the 'new' styles whenever I have some downtime, and I've found zero so far as well. Now, there could obviously be other factors at play, but I don't think that bodes well as people are typically SO happy to be sporting new hairstyles when they're released.
SE did Hroth dirty. ._.
I've seen 2 with the Snow hairstyle but that's it. Hope this doesn't turn into a "See, no one uses the hairstyles we worked 2 minutes on, so why bother!"I've been trying to run around the different cities hunting for a Hroth with any of the 'new' styles whenever I have some downtime, and I've found zero so far as well. I would love to think they'd take that more as a "Wow, we really screwed the pooch on this!"...but I feel like your assessment is probably the more likely outcome. :/
As much as it sucks, this is nothing new or specifically indicative of Hrothgar getting less attention than other races. My male Miqo'te has a hairstyle that you can see daylight through on multiple angles less extreme than that screenshot, and I've come across occasional others where you can see into the hair model through gaps close to the head.
I have noticed that hairstyles with exposed hairlines seem to always float slightly over the head, even though I would have thought the more effective approach would be deliberately clipping it into the head. Is there a reason why they would need to do this? Some are race-exclusive so it's not just a matter of bad refitting. Likewise, is there a reason they would need to cut holes in Viera hairstyles for the ears instead of just having them sit on top?
"The totally empty, low effort bozja maps and the end-plot alliance raids that are on a timer were hugely unpopular so instead of fixing it we're just giving up on it entirely."
You should know by now how Anti-clipping SE is.. and looking at this hairstyle you can see they are so against it they'd never do as you suggested and instead float the hair above the head instead of attaching it lolAs much as it sucks, this is nothing new or specifically indicative of Hrothgar getting less attention than other races.
