New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

After checking the new hairstyles out, these are my thoughts:

To start with the good, I'm glad that they finally added a hair section for Hrothgar within the aesthetician and removed the need for Fantasia to change your hairstyle. It is also nice that the developers made it so you can choose between the two hairstyles that previously shared the same Hrothgar face option.

On the not-so-positive side, I feel that Hrothgar hair implementation did not get much consideration for quality. Not only can you still not select the Hrothgar-specific hairstyles tied to the face options that your character does not have, but you only start with one default hairstyle ( the long hair that Emmanellain uses). The other hairstyle options must be purchased on the Mogstation or unlocked in the game. On top of this, the added hairstyles look odd on Hrothgar due to the lack of ears, and, as visible in the pictures shown here by others, they have quality issues.

When the development team announced that Hrothgar was getting more hair options, I was ecstatic. It's been a long time since they first made that announcement, and I've patiently waited for the new additions, as I felt they would be worth the wait. However, after this release, I've got to say that I feel disappointed. At the very least, I hoped that we would be able to select between all of the hair options currently tied to the Hrothgar face choices, but we didn't get that. On the bright side, it's nice that the Fantasia problem is gone. Still, as most new hairstyles don't even seem worth using, and we still have to use a Fantasia to utilize other face-tied hairstyles, the addition doesn't feel as meaningful as I thought.

It's bad enough that Face 2 takes up like 75% of the Hroth population, now they only cater to them? Why not just give eyebrows to all faces? A lot of questionable decisions made from the devs.

Which is sad because this sums up Fordola's entire character arc. It's a common theme for Japanese people to advocate for one thing in media, then the complete opposite, IRL. It's honestly depressing...

No, no. It's good they're putting that in media because it introduces the concept to people who are receptive to it; particularly younger generations that don't have racist or xenophobic tendancies engrained into them yet.

Story lines like that ought to be encouraged.

The eyebrow thing is such a weird limitation. It's literally a flat texture. Why prevent other faces from using it? Jfc square.

God it just makes me so incredibly angry that people were willing to accept such a bold-faced lie.

All they had to do is say "ok so there's clipping but we'll fix it later" and Hrothgars would've celebrated. Ffs.

This is without a doubt one of the very worst things I have ever seen. They really thought this was appropriate?? How? I mean no disrespect to anyone who worked on it, but who allowed this much effort to be placed into such an obviously doomed project from the start? There is nothing good about this.

Yeah, I'd probably be tempted to switch back to viera for that hair. Don't care about the outfit too much, maybe dancer or something, but I'd be buying it for the hair.

Just be clear about what hairs you guys want bc it's alot of "i don't like this" "I just wanted good hairs"

Do you want unique hairs?
Do you want specific hairs + unique hairs?

It's inside the data files, all assigned to Female Viera already. Just need to be unlocked

Given that what Hrothgar got this time is what Viera got last time, then there are more to come. Viera got another three default styles this time and three more unlockable (to my awareness).
