Eeeh...I disagree. How is the playerbase, people who pay to play this game mind you, B-N-M as you put it, about something that costs more money, 'to much'. I don't get that. I think a good portion of the player base would have been perfectly fine with the original promises getting done. SE added additional work loads on themselves. Players can suggest what they want(hrothladies and viera lads) we didnt demand it. We cant chain them down and make them do it. They promised us more hair. The fact that we had to, from the start, pay an additional fee of 10$ to change our faces when the others races didnt was a legitimate reason to BNM. Having that issue fixed would have been a big stepping stone I think. A lot of people would have been happy. Actually I think most of us would have shut up and went to our corner to play with our new toys. Making shared hair work on veira was probably lot easier(I dont know this, I dont play that race)

I dont know, it just seems a bit wrong to use that as an excuse. If the work load was to big, dont add to it.

Square was the ones who brought this up several months after introducing Hrothgar. They over-promised, under-delivered and then tried to do a rushed, botched job that according to the preliminary patch notes would've cost us actual cash. Whether or not this was the case isn't up for debate but their complete radio silence the instant the community exploded at them over this seems to indicate that they did fully intend on making Hrothgar players pay for fantasias for at least some aspects of these customization options as even the JP players brought this issue up.

People in my opinion are at the very least allowed to feel let down or offended and that they're paying for a service only for said service to be of low quality. This isn't some F2P cashgrab, android-app battle royale nonsense. They locked Hrothgars behind an expansion and people paid for both it and a subscription for 3 years only to be strung along, given incorrect information (some of which could be interpreted as straight-up bold-faced lies at this point) and then were finally handed some meme-tier wigs some of which are essentially just advertisements for their other products (Nier, FFXIII) and told that they're totally honestly truthfully cross my heart and hope to die doing our best here guys!! It was at the very least rude and indicated that they just weren't listening to the community and that, to me, is more than enough reason to justify people's frustration.

FFXIV was saved because they decided to listen to the community nearly a decade ago and now have proceeded to blatantly ignore the community. They messed up. The end.
