The mages whose nation stood up to Mhach? Before the great ShB healer action culling, WHM had quite a few offensive spells. In fact, Cleric Stance was originally a WHM ability in ARR. Lore wise, WHM has always been written as a rather powerful offensive spellcaster. They even go as far as to call out Sylphie, a character in WHM's job quests that wants to "only heal" rather than fight, on her obstination with refraining from using the elements to harm.

Visually it looks to fit perfectly within WHM's current "light and flowers" aesthetic.
I think it's mostly the sheer amount of "oomph" the LB has compared to their existing light/holy spells that was a bit jarring. WHM is a weird case where I feel like its spells feel less powerful after they moved into the ShB stretch in terms of visuals and sound effects. Roaring gales and crushing earth were satisfying in a way that its 80+ single target/DoT abilities aren't, and even Holy II doesn't quite exude the power that the original Holy does IMO.

I do kind of wonder if the LB gauge is going to charge at a variable speed for different jobs because at least in the case of Yoshi's BLM it was filling extremely quickly, though that might tie in with the fact that their LB buff seems to have some manner of ramp-up gimmick that gains stacks the longer you maintain it. The ominous purple aura is a bit of double-edged sword since it looks cool but also serves as a big "Kill me now" flag.

God, right? The WHM damage spells (what few of them remain) all feel so neutered from a visual/sound design standpoint. There's no variety. All of them feel like throwing a handful of glitter at the target, coupled with the light tinkling sound of gently shaking a chandelier at them. There's no boom, no crunch, no blast, no explosion. Just *swirly swirly* *gentle glitter sparkle tinkle noise*

It's why I have no desire to play WHM. If it had kept its' Druid aesthetic, I might have picked it up. But by the time I actually got around to playing this game (ShB) it's been nothing but sparkles and weird nun outfits.
