I’ve been hesitant about posting this but screw it. I’ve fully switched to DRK as my main this tier , in all my FF14 career I have always played PLD for every raid tier since launch. I have the same gear tier for my PLD and DRk right down to the upgraded weapons. On a dummy my max dps on DRk is 6150 , and my PLD is only 5300. I want to stress I’ve mained PLD for like 10 freaking years!
That’s a 850 dps spread between myself, I’ve never played DRK seriously before this so I don’t have the years of knowledge on the DRK that I do on PLD. The DRK dps is brain dead to produce , 1-2-3 combo with just spam EVERYTHING get it on cool down a trained monkey can produce these numbers. On PLD you gotta work your ass off with a cursed opener , follow a strict rotation and drop a unbuffed Atonement every 60sec loop to not screw yourself, your reward is you do trash tier DPS.
I haven’t played my GNB for about 2 months I’m by no means a good GNB. I only have the Penta melded 580 weapon on him but I went and after 3 trys beat my PLDs dps on the dummy by 50 dps with the only difference bein my GNB had a Ilv 580 weapon and my PLD had a Ilv 600 weapon!
I’m sorry but the state of PLD is BULLSHIT! I don’t want to play DRK but my team needs the damage because other players are short on DPS and IF I played my main it would just worsen our position. I’m convinced PLD dps was screwed up when they made changes to magic damage under the hood. My 10yrs of experience with over 12k hrs of gameplay mostly on PLD should at least be competitive with myself!

Ok. Here is the harsh truth. You are not as good at PLD as you think. On 4 out of 5 current Savage fights for 99th percentile PLD is within 150-250 rDPS from DRK. It's about 400 rDPS behind on Phoinix which can be explained by adds downtime being more favorable for DRK. Your "10yrs of experience with 12k hrs" mean nothing when you don't actually play the job correctly.

Dummy doesn't mean much, I grant, but it does illustrate an unacceptable gap between the two for the amount of work required to get those numbers.

The Burning Field HP values are tuned against the expected dps performance of each job under target dummy conditions. If you're taking over 20 seconds longer to clear one job's target dummy than another despite nearly identical gear, it likely indicates that you're making a significant error somewhere across your standard rotation for at least one of them. I'm sure that there are plenty of players who can troubleshoot this for you if you provide more details on what you're doing.

"The dude" has 90% GCD uptime and fundamentally doesn't understand landing 11 GCDs in FoF. Not even talking about what those GCDs they do land are.

So no, the gap they are seeing is irrelevant considering how far that PLD gameplay is from the optimal.

Not only is WAR the most played tank, it's the second most played job in the entire game. The damage output of a job hasn't been pertinent to its pick rate since Stormblood, outside of massive outliers. Even then, that was more due to raid buff and debuff synergy than actual output.

Where do you find this information on how much a job is played?

Biggest problem with pld is they are stuck to shb raid buff. the best way to make them feel strong is to make them EW raid buff, There no way it going be on this expansion for fixes like that. So enjoy those busted potency buff until next expansion.

The only problem I have with PLD is his 17sec FoF use.

I caused so many prepull wipes because I did not notice the start of the countdown.

Beside that the PLD DMG is a bit on a lower side but now completely acaptable.

It is also easy to recover lost GCDs to keep everything nice in the buff window.

PLD is fine now and does not need direct DMG adjustments.
