    This.

Asking people not to abuse a company’s staff is not ‘tone policing’. Somehow I don’t think they’re going to start banning people for giving genuine feedback. I mean, even if it’s not (how do you even determine ‘genuine’ anyway), as long as it isn’t abusing, harrassing or otherwise insulting I can’t see there being any repercussions.

I also agree with the sentiment mentioned before that I doubt this is about one specific section of the player base (JP). And even if it was, that doesn’t mean we can’t reflect on the point being made and the extent to which it applies to us, because by god do we need to

If only they had community managers to read and filter the feedback and maybe even comment here sometimes. It would be wise to preserve the sanity and motivation of the main development team.

Folks that think it's ok to be rude and demanding when submitting "feedback" - just go work in Retail/F&B/Service industry for a few years and enjoy a taste of your own medicine

Really sad to read this statement. Some people can't communicate politely it seems. We may not see each other on the internet, but theres a human being behind the text being written. Let's not forget that.
Dunno about you but i was able to see the heart and soul being put into 6.0.

I'm sure some are already in those industries you've mentioned. Its just a lot easier to be rude online.

I'll confess, I'm not sure why you're quoting me when my point was a general statement and not directed at anyone in particular - or why there's an attempt to frame an acknowledgement of nuance as some grave sin or reasonable point. Furthermore, please do feel free to show me where I excused abuse given that I specifically stated in my post that the terms of service should be adhered to.

Furthermore, in my experience just because someone is a little brash or hot headed it does not mean that they are a terrible person. Such individuals are often prone to passion and sticking up for others even if they disagree with those self same individuals.

On the other hand, I've found that many of those eager to police thought, tone and opinions are amongst the first to drive a dagger into someone's back so long as they stand to gain something from doing so.

Exceptions exist in both cases, of course...so take it with a pinch of salt.
    Bro,

You really gonna say that if someone can't say something without insulting someone, that's thought policing? Is it really that hard for someone to be neutral/civil and say "this ain't right" instead of "this ain't right, dumbass"?

    Yikes.

Interesting - are you claiming the TOS don't do that?

I think that is a rather deceptive take on my post, or at least missing a key element:

Personally I would be surprised if it’s targeted at the non jp community, also a bit shocked.

To me in all the years i played mmorpg I never saw a community that supporting and willing to cover all faults with a huge blanket of love. To the point that I would be worried as se that maybe to get disconnected to the silent masses as critics are mostly countered with almost fan-boy unrealistic replies, or downvoted to shreds on Reddit that I suspect a huge part of the community finds it’s just not worth it.

If it’s indeed in general that would be worrying to me.

Criticism presented in a polite way in a open discussion is good for a game, yes it could be hard for the dev who spend countless hours on that particular aspect of the game that nobody likes, but also a learning opportunity to get a better understanding why it is disliked by the player base.

Now I don’t know what is said on the jp community and it could be totally unacceptable, so I would like to believe it’s targeted at the jp community.
