I could be mistaken, but I made this exact complaint during Eden.
Was sick of randoms uploading logs with my name on it.
While I don't particularly care that my performance itself is public, what annoyed me was simply that in the random and fully uncontrolled environment that is Normal DF Raid Queue, there's no value in randomly uploading a parse from one.

Apparently, if you create a login for FFlogs, you can claim a character as "yours" and privatise it, which blocks you from appearing in the statistics even if someone else uploads a log with you in it.

I'm not about to go creating an account on a third party site and associating it in any way with my character, but supposedly that is the only way to prevent your name from appearing.

People didnt just give up. They didnt just "UOOOHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I CANT SEE WHAT IM DOOOOOOOOING NUMBERSWISE??? They just made a group and hoped for the best. and yet here we are today...pretty much the embodiment of that tough dog vs the crying dog meme...people acting like they can't even go west of la noscea to gather a pear without knowing what their axe parse will be...it's just pathetic. I'll be honest with you, it's pathetic. It's whiny, it's toddler inspired, it's as little as a little brain can be to insinuate that without parsing people can't even beat bosses. I truly can't believe we're even here in gaming. Lmao. What happened. What happened???? How did this happen

The funniest part of all of this is watching these same types of people play any video game that isn't an MMO and seeing them get filtered within the first 10 minutes. Turns out they were just using addons as a crutch for being having poor reaction times and lacking basic problem solving skills, and when they can't use them, they can't play. All that tough talk is just cope for needing third party tools to hold their hand in a video game. As someone who has mostly played action games and puzzle-solving games (cranking the difficulty to maximum possible) all my life I have never understood the need for third party tools to basically dumb down the game for me, let alone flexing about it on the internet. FFXIV's fights revolve around having good reaction times, being able to read telegraphed attacks, and having bare minimum problem solving skills to be able to decipher certain mechanics that aren't just obvious telegraphed attacks but require you to pay attention and use your brain, alongside knowing your job and how to perform it correctly.

If you need any sort of addon to raid in this game, I'm sorry, but you are legitimately a bad player. To me, were I forming a static, it's more of a red flag that you use them then if you don't. If you need some third party internet tool to tell you if you're playing badly or not I don't want you anywhere near my raids.

DPS Meters != Cactbot. The funny thing is, those same players who are parsing orange and purple aren't using addons, so this whole post is a completely different topic.

A lot of raiders despise Cactbot. It's just a crutch, in my opinion. But I have similar views of callouts. I prefer to be able to do the content without having to rely on someone else to complete it.

I think my main beef is that some people don't realize that the bulk of the playerbase does not actively parse/log, but will still take their average performance from inconsistent second-hand parses as a gospel.

The thing is if you do that, people will instead assume you're trying to hide bad performance and judge you anyways so you can't really win either way unless you're willing to actively grind out parse runs which will still inevitably be "not good enough" for someone out there if they aren't orange.

Had multiple PFs back in Stormblood that straight up refused to queue into the instance until I unhid my performance, but thankfully I was "good enough" by their standards.

It's an MMO that has big yellow circles and tells you when a big bad attack is coming. You can leave the "casuals" part out. It's taken as read when you mention Final Fantasy 14 raiding.

I'm going to assume, based on this comment, that you only do normal mode. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, only that if you did higher content, you would realize that a lot of the ground markers are removed in the higher end stuff.
