You can't sit there and say they could not see how many preorders were purchased. This is the difference between adult's world and student's world: ideal thinking never able to overcomes practical world
In the business world, all projects are done based on the forecast with some backup plan.
No business will take measure beforehand, it is always how you deal with aftermath.
Takes this Covid 19 for example, no companies in the world foreseeing this and have measures ready and that is why the all need subsidies from government for assistance.
They do have emergency plan, but it will never bee this large scale.

I feel sorry that you don't understand the fact of how important semiconductors to our world right now.
Every field of industry right now requires this little chip to function: car, phone, computer, and even your local traffic light system.
The shortage starts in 2019 due to US-China trade war and Covid 19.
I suggest you to pay attention to news or what happened around you, even you claims yourself a gamer.
Every company did their forecast and they do have plan for expansion: new dataceter and server hardware upgrade.
They certainly did not expect a mass WoW exodus isn't it.
I mean, WoW community usually call use FF14 players as weebies.
This type of project requires more than 6 months because it is not something you can buy off Amazon and install it yourself.
They don't have the time, but i already knew no one can convince non-believer after i am seeing surprising amount of people still believe covid 19 is a hoax

Are we talking chips? No. We are talking the amount of players the servers can handle. They sold more preorders than the servers could handle.I feel sorry that you don't understand the fact of how important semiconductors to our world right now.

Pretty sure if they had limited Endwalker Sales; we'd have a similar amount of backlash, if not more. Sure people are praising the halt of sales now, but it would be a completely different story if it was done before Endwalker's release. So many people, myself included, would complain about being unable to buy Endwalker, that we should have the decision on whether we want to deal with the congestion or not, that we want to be able to make the decision rather than have it be made for us, etc. Also, they warned players about the congestion several times ahead of time.

A game being sold out is far more digestible, than players having to babysit a queue for multiple hours.Pretty sure if they had limited Endwalker Sales; we'd have a similar amount of backlash, if not more.
