If content finder ever gets implemented, there will always be unofficial thread for either player warning/blacklists/background check. It always has in every MMO i have played that were merging servers or have server transfers method, there was also one too in FFXI.

News will travels the same way even if only few people notices, people will starts talking.

Also i have to add to that, Most if not all MMO's implement a majority rules system for booting party members, So chances are two friends that decide to be ass holes will likely be voted out of the group pretty fast.

First let me say this; don't get me wrong I'm not totaly agaisnt a content finder, I'm agaisnt a cross server one.

In a setting where solo play is the preferable way to play the majority of the game for most people, a system that eliminates any need for social interaction (it groups you up with a required setup, it sends you to destination and transports you back once its over) will then only foster non social interactions.
Just cause your'e in a party doesnt mean you are actualy interacting with others, especial in XIV's which has little interaction between party members roles other then healer heals tank, damage dealers hit monster.

The days where experience adventures be it dungeons or other, togheter as a group of players intertacting with eachother and learning to work togheter, is fading away in favor of systems that let's you get to the loot faster.
Loot was always the reason to go do a dungeon, but many times the reward could be somehting more meaningful, like befriending a new person.
If that person is from another server you are less likely to care about learning to know eachother since the chance you see eachother again is very slim.

A cross server content finder is hardly the only reason for this decline in social interaction in modern mmo's but it certinaly does contribute to that end.

I'll say again, I'm not totaly agaisnt a content finder, I'm agaisnt a cross server one.
And I belive a well designed MMO with an active playerbase can survive well without having one in the first place, I assume we all hope the game will take off come 2.0 and have a healthy community afterall.
Then if that's not the case and the population numbers being small is impacting the chance to get a dungeon going, that would be a time where patching in such a system would be a good idea.

I accept your views but i believe your wrong, Just cause I'll have a slim chance of meeting someone again doesn't mean I'll be hostile, In fact i will likely enjoy a good conversation with them like i have on many other MMO's. Although I would prefer that any content finder would in fact not be cross server I am not entirely against the Idea. I may not be able to keep the friends I meet on other servers and play with the the same way I play with the friends I have on my server but I will always have the option of using voice chat or a MSN type program to keep in touch if I find them truly interesting to talk to. I'd also like to note Blizzards real ID system that allows a player to add friends cross server and cross game and continue to chat with them and even play with them. The possibilities are endless and I'm sure SE will make a great choice for the future of FFXIV as they have done so far in redeeming the games reputation in my eyes.

Isn't much different than we have right now, people AFK on bots or just crafting in general.

It's all about consequences. If I'm from another server and am tanking Baat with your dungeon finder group, and MPK everyone in the party right before he dies (with my best friend's assistance), leave you all dead, kick you from the party, pop the chests and leave, what are you gonna do? Get on the forums and complain? lulz. Maybe 10 people from my actual server will notice.
It's for SE to provide a system where the leader can't just kick someone on a whim then, as I mentioned above WoW requires a majority vote from all players in the party to kick someone.

I dunno what peoples problem is really, you can still make friends on your own server and do content in linkshell, I know this will be my prefered avenue when making a party, but in those times when you just can't find the 7th or 8th person or just want to log in and do something quick, content finder is awesome.

I don't see this any different that shouting for a random in Ul'dah, you could end up with a complete Ahole or someone nice, the only difference is perhaps you can't be friends afterwards but like I say plenty more people to be friends with on your own server.

What we have now is about as far away from a healthy a thriving MMO with a larger playbase you can come though.
And one can assume the idea behind 2.0 relaunch aims to remedy that by rekindling the public intresst in the game and recruting alot of new players to populate the servers.

Thats besides the point, chances are this game will never be huge like WoW so the chances of meeting the same person more than twice in a content finder would be much higher.

As Sylvari said above if SE have something like RealID players can keep in touch with one another even if they are on different servers, I'm sure they could programme it to even play with that person again if you wanted.

It's 2012 gaming and servers in general are a lot more open than they used to be.

It's innovative idea's like cross server content finders that blur the lines and will eventually allows all to play together regardless of server.

This is true.. I would show people the same courtesies and politeness no matter what..
They all deserve the same respect.
The only difference for me is, I would only talk when I have to with people from other servers, but I could actually have fun with and get to know people on my own server.
So I'd just prefer an in-server content finder. :x

I don't understand why people would suddenly be rude to those on other servers but not their own.. I'm sure it happens sometimes, but I just don't understand people like that.

I agree, Although i would prefer a content finder that is server exclusive i wouldn't be fazed either way. I'd be happy just to have something that can cut down the time i wait.

I'd be ok with server only content finder, although in reality this will lower the pool of players so someone wanting to do low level content like Toto-rak may find it hard to find enough people to do it with.

You can look for anything in your own server using the search function, sure it doesn't auto group you up, that being said people still aren't using it.
