If content finder ever gets implemented, there will always be unofficial thread for either player warning/blacklists/background check. It always has in every MMO i have played that were merging servers or have server transfers method, there was also one too in FFXI.

News will travels the same way even if only few people notices, people will starts talking.

Also i have to add to that, Most if not all MMO's implement a majority rules system for booting party members, So chances are two friends that decide to be ass holes will likely be voted out of the group pretty fast.

First let me say this; don't get me wrong I'm not totaly agaisnt a content finder, I'm agaisnt a cross server one.

In a setting where solo play is the preferable way to play the majority of the game for most people, a system that eliminates any need for social interaction (it groups you up with a required setup, it sends you to destination and transports you back once its over) will then only foster non social interactions.
Just cause your'e in a party doesnt mean you are actualy interacting with others, especial in XIV's which has little interaction between party members roles other then healer heals tank, damage dealers hit monster.

The days where experience adventures be it dungeons or other, togheter as a group of players intertacting with eachother and learning to work togheter, is fading away in favor of systems that let's you get to the loot faster.
Loot was always the reason to go do a dungeon, but many times the reward could be somehting more meaningful, like befriending a new person.
If that person is from another server you are less likely to care about learning to know eachother since the chance you see eachother again is very slim.

A cross server content finder is hardly the only reason for this decline in social interaction in modern mmo's but it certinaly does contribute to that end.

I'll say again, I'm not totaly agaisnt a content finder, I'm agaisnt a cross server one.
And I belive a well designed MMO with an active playerbase can survive well without having one in the first place, I assume we all hope the game will take off come 2.0 and have a healthy community afterall.
Then if that's not the case and the population numbers being small is impacting the chance to get a dungeon going, that would be a time where patching in such a system would be a good idea.

I accept your views but i believe your wrong, Just cause I'll have a slim chance of meeting someone again doesn't mean I'll be hostile, In fact i will likely enjoy a good conversation with them like i have on many other MMO's. Although I would prefer that any content finder would in fact not be cross server I am not entirely against the Idea. I may not be able to keep the friends I meet on other servers and play with the the same way I play with the friends I have on my server but I will always have the option of using voice chat or a MSN type program to keep in touch if I find them truly interesting to talk to. I'd also like to note Blizzards real ID system that allows a player to add friends cross server and cross game and continue to chat with them and even play with them. The possibilities are endless and I'm sure SE will make a great choice for the future of FFXIV as they have done so far in redeeming the games reputation in my eyes.
