    Square quit blaming 2002 on the user's internet connection and take responsibilty

    Per your response to congestion:

    Error 2002 Occurrence From Issues With the Player's Internet Connection

    Currently, most of the reports we have been receiving about Error 2002 are to do with this issue. The reason for this is that, as a result of longer queues and more time spent in the queue, there is an increased likelihood of issues occurring in relation to the player’s internet connection. In most cases, this is considered to be caused by packet loss on the internet route or instability from the Wi-Fi connection in the player's internet environment.

    Even if you are temporarily disconnected due to Error 2002 at times of such instability, the lobby server will continue to wait for a few tens of seconds to a minute for your connection to be restored. If you are able to get back online and reconnect to the lobby server quickly, you will be able to queue up again from the middle of the queue. After a certain amount of time, the connection will be completely lost, and you will have to join the end of the queue.

    Currently, this occurrence of Error 2002 seems to be causing the biggest troubles for our players, so if it's possible for you to use a hard-wired internet connection, please consider switching to it instead of using Wi-Fi. If you are playing on the PlayStation®4 or PlayStation®5 version, please also check your settings related to power saving.

    I would like to express my deepest apologies for having to ask this of you but unfortunately this is a result of the increased access to our service. It would be greatly appreciated that you consider and check about these possibilities, so that you can avoid connection instability as much as possible and benefit from a stable playing experience.



    My response to this is that the user's internet connection is not the issue here. I'm hardwired and there is no packet loss from the internet provider side as you have been given trace routes in this forum that the drops are from your side of the equation which is NTT and was that way the last time this happened. Please correct the issue and quit blaming our connections for the issue. This is a lie and it's already frustrating enough with everything going on. Where is the extension on game time considering the issues still persist after the 7 days that you guys talked about extending? We are paying for a service so with this long congestion and still the disconnects additional compensation for the lack of game time and access to play needs to be added. Please check with you backbone of NTT and get the issues on your side fixed so we are not getting the 2002 errors as it is over on your end. I do work for a major internet provider in the US and have been monitoring to see if anything is causing an issue on the internet side which is why I can confidently point this back your direction where you are trying to blame our providers. Not true, so get it fixed guys!

    The issue appears to be the client itself drops and reconnects every 15 minutes in the background with no attempts to retry on a failure. So yeah, their explanation is disingenuous at best, ignorant at worst.

    Exact same thing with the 90002/3/6 errors. Start sending support tickets with that google doc attached and keep this thread up so everyone sees this.

    I would also like to state that I find the lack of 2002 error resolution unacceptable. I am also using cable internet connections and I am unable to play the game if I do not sit for 3 hours watching and guarding the queue. I do not have that kind of time and as a paying customer I deserve a resolution to the problem or free game time till you resolve the problem.

    It's not that they're refusing to "take responsibilty". It's that SquareEnix does not have responsibility for every hop packets take from your home to their servers. Their responsibility is their servers. If the servers are functioning properly, it's not their "fault". It's unfair to ask of them to take responsibility of something that isn't under their control.

    Did you even read the doc?
    He basically showed that the connection is accepted but they still kick you. Not sure if this is supposed a ddos mitigation mechanism, but it is just taking a big toll on their customers.

    The client itself disconnects every 15 minutes. So i highly doubt that this is an anti (D)DoS feature. I am a software developer and for me it looks like a quick & dirty solu ... "solution" to make things running.
