I Imagine blm as hired magic instead of hired muscle. So yo get pgl cause you know how that way of life is.

We'll know for sure in 1 weekSo now the bigger question is if @30 I complete the PLD job quest and join a party would I get GLD skills unlocked as I lvl as a PLD or would I have to stay GLD and just do the PLD quests to unlock job skills and not party as PLD till 50?
Lmao, seams the more info we get the more questions I have ><
Actually, I just favor XI's arabian kilij sword type bluemages over whips. :P

Hi Rowyne, Alkel,Exactly what I was thinking. Gladiator? I have to get some tanking experience under my belt to unlock the healing job? Weird. Why wouldn't they encourage you to cross-class casters?
Can't wait to see what lore reasons are in the WHM quest (if any) for that one. >.>
This would make much more sense:
30 CNJ + 15 THM = WHM
30 THM + 15 CNJ = BLM
Edit: Alkel beat me to it!
Yah, I would've thought that they'd use Conjurer + Thaumaturge combinations for White Mage and Black Mage, but then I remembered the earlier interview with Yoshida-san in Famitsu CONNECT-ON Magazine, where he might use it for Red Mage:
(Thanks to Kristina_Farron for the translation.)時期については明言できないが、特定の二つのクラスを一定ランクまであげると取得できる、複合ジョブも用意する。たとえば、幻術士と呪術士を両方育てると赤魔導士といった展開もあり得る。
Although the time is unknown, they are planning to have "combined job" which is obtained by two specified class over specified rank. For example, CON + THM = Red Mage.
I know it was only an example that he gave (and not confirmation), but it sounds like they'd save that combination for Red Mage (or some other mage).
We'll see.![]()

no, hes referring to how pugilist are also obsessed with resurrecting the dead, duh. Seriously though, I'm guessing its cause pugilist are able to harness elements in their attacks.
Ok this is cool, i like how the 'basic' jobs start by having 2 classes leveled up.
I like this alot. Curious if those 2 classes required are the only 2 classes whose abilities you can use with the job? Kind of stoaked for the whole run down next week on this.

I would say that the classes they chose as pre-reqs for jobs are unconventional for an MMO but not lacking logic. WHM for example, sure con/thm would be "conventional" but whats not logical about con healing and glad defending the party making the role of whm. I would say glad has more stake in what a whm's role is then thm does just because it has spells, the only thing thm has that would benefit a whm job is mp which glad has as well in this game.

i would think for MNK it'll be Pug and Conj (you know that whole chi thing)I was able to sneak a peek at the documents regarding the upcoming job system announcement coming next week and I smuggled out a lil' morsel that you might be interested in. I figure, if you all knew what classes were required for each job, you could set a goal to raise them up over the weekend (if you're like Camate who was all "omg Bayohne, help me level up my lancer tomorrow!"...).
Take a gander at the requirements to begin the quests to unlock the jobs... (don't tell Yoshi-P I showed you!)

always looking for good people.

CON/THM makes less sense than CON/GLA in my opinion.
THM is all about offensive magic and the power of destruction. CNJ is more about life and defensive spells.
There's more synergy between a CON and a GLA than a CON and a THM.
Seems to me like people think of THM automatically just because it's the only other mage class.
Also, same can be said for BLM = THM/PGL. Both THM and PGL utilize elements offensively - one by harnessing powerful spells, while the other through a more physical incarnation. Having a job that is much more about destruction unlocked by a sub class that's all about defense and preservation makes less sense.
I'm sure we'll understand much more about why they went with the setup they did when we are actually doing the job quests. Lots of lore for the jobs to be added no doubt.
