"In from the Cold" Scenario, any way to skip it?

This thread is a perfect encapsulation of why the game has been getting aggressively easier and easier with each passing year, any modicum of a challenge and there are cries of anguish. This quest was done brilliantly and paying even the smallest bit of attention and reading the text is enough to get by which apparently is unacceptable.

what the hell are you talking about? nothing about this quest is hard? all it serves is to waste time. adding a fail mechanic to it is only there to waste more of our time. between the scarce story progressions theres a plethory of mundane tasks to waste our time. this expansion is an insult to us.

neither do you speak for everyone. if some ppl have trouble with a quest, then the quests needs to be changed.

... Of course I dont speak for everyone, why would you even bring that up? Also, if we changed everything that "some ppl" have trouble with in game there wouldn't be a game. What a silly thing to say.

Considering people raged at the unnerfed Steps of Faith, nothing surprises me on the forums, that even something that remotely requires thinking and patience is seen as "challenging". Yikes.

you do realize that the goal of the game should be to not gate keep ppl, right? so if something is too hard or too annoying for many players, it needs to be changed. id rather have a bunch of easy quests for no effort along the story then be forced into an RP fight thrice just to fail again, simply because Im not a fan of sneaking around for 10 minutes so no mob aggros me.

Did this one a bit ago. Frustratingly annoying at first, but completely linear, and actually, quite easy - once you discover what is necessary to continue. I do think it was drawn out, and overall pointless. I get what they were going for, but it just fell flat, and ruined the pacing.

I disliked this one too. Hard.
#1 they robbed me of my character
#2 a lot of hidden stuff and time constraints and stealth
#3 redoing stuff that feels bad is even worse then bad

They could have easily fixed most issues though with a simple second life and maybe slightly more time. I mean when there is a lot of stuff to try out, the likelyhood of you failing is high. So just compensate for it :/

Look at all the posts that didnt read the context.

Didnt say that is was too difficult. If you cared to read them, it was how it was done to your character. That quest made the story line seem un needed.

You are the warrior of light, so all the Ascians had to do it rip you out of your body and snuff you. Why all the build up with the towers then when that is all they had to do??

People arent angry at the mechanics, theyre angry at the storyline and the way they did it.

There is a reason I never really played Metal Gear Solid games and instead watched other people play through them. One of my happiest memories in college was watching a room mate go through MGSII: Sons of Liberty completely blind, and hitting the scene with Raiden where he's running around naked and the AI has gone bonkers. "I need scissors! Sixty one!"

This quest had none of that joy. It just had the frustration without the fun.

I'm glad they're experimenting with different types of mechanics - and I'm grateful they added an easy mode for scrubs like me that have the timing sense of a squirrel crossing the street.

Edit: I will also say that I understand that this part as a gate keeper is partially to prevent everyone from piling into the 83 dungeon and trial too soon. They learned that lesson from Rauhban Ex, after all.

I got it on my third try without going easy. Would have gotten it on my second if I didn't accidentally alt tab during a certain part of it. It's actually not that long or difficult as long as you stick to the shadows and alleys. Still, not the strongest of duties.
