The thing that annoyed me the most was the "click button fast" mechanic that jumps on you at the end. I use my keyboard for those, and it was sitting 4 feet away from me. By the time I had picked it up, I failed the mechanic.

Yeah as much as I loved this duty, the active time maneuver being so difficult caught me off guard. I manged to start mashing my keyboard in time to pass but I'm not sure why they'd bother making it that hard.
It was boring, yea, but not impossible o-o
I was more mad at the fact that I had to play as this while "I" was out gallivanting about....
I will be blunt and frank at the amount of whining I’m seeing here about this duty in particular. For anyone who has an inkling of memory if you were here in ARR: DO YOU REMEMBER THE STEPS OF FAITH?
That was nerfed into the ground and basically lost its experience once people could simply DPS the dragon senseless. I do not want another duty to be watered down so much again because of the player base crying about this when it’s very well done from what it is trying to evoke; especially now. (Second post coming since Mobile)
i was and that was fun because I got to PLAY AS MY FUCKING JOB!!!! like holy shit i get it. you guys love the game that's great but this is a mmo not everyone gonna like the same stuff.....I will be blunt and frank at the amount of whining I’m seeing here about this duty in particular. I have never in the entirety of playing this game liked playing as another character. I hated every single one and have the right to. I'd rather these be cutscenes than something I am forced to play out to progress. Its not that they are challenging, they're a major annoyance on several levels and the very LEAST the devs could do is allow me to move around the given buttons we have to our liking. Currently, they don't and it infuriates me.I will be blunt and frank at the amount of whining I’m seeing here about this duty in particular. My major issue with this whole instance is
there is absolutely nothing to guide you where you needed to go.
I legitamately wandered around in circles for 10 minutes trying to find a way out. It didn't need to have obvious markers, but perhaps a certain mocking npc could have been angled in the direction we needed to go? So sorry that my first thought for this quest was find a way to leave the area by the map only to be blocked off by nothing but red dotted invisible walls and had to look up a video to find the area the magitek armor was.
All I really needed was a direction to walk in. Everything else was fine. I should not have to look outside a game to find something when the quest itself should be more than capable of giving me a hint.
I'm tired of being told to wait for post-patches and expansions for fixes and increased healing requirements that are never coming. Healers are not fun in all forms of content like all jobs should be, they're replaced by tanks and dps due to low healing requirements and their dps kit is small for 0 reason, when in the past we had more options and handled things just fine. I refuse to play healer in roulette come DT. I refuse to heal EXs, I refuse to go into Savage, and I am boycotting Ultimate.

Well, yes and no, you could easily achieve a similar if not greater effect by putting us in a cramped maze full of monsters/tempered and forcing us to scavenge supplies and dodge patrols, but still make us control the same imperial character and apply the same skills/lack of auto regen, and it would probably have a much better effect because you'd effectively have tangible walls instead of random orange barriers blocking you, just add the magitek armor at the end in front of a room full of enemies so that it's obvious you need to repair it to get through, and then add 2 branching rooms on either side that contain the 2 materials you needI will be blunt and frank at the amount of whining I’m seeing here about this duty in particular. Honestly I like the idea and I was having a blast navigating around all the enemies and picking my fights, that is, until the arbitrary objectives came into play and there was no indication of how to get out because there were barriers everywhere that you could only see when you got close to them, nevermind the fact that it would make a lot more sense to remove the barriers and just put enemies everywhere and trigger a cutscene as soon as you left the city area instead of what we got
Nothing wrong with complaining when something is legitimately bad, and literally all this solo duty needs to go from bad to good/bearable is just some darn markers
Watching forum drama be like
You can say there are things to be improved upon(which there are - in Easy and Very Easy), but they are attempting to keep the moment and what it is trying to evoke. There are absolutely only TWO TIMES the WoL is near death or could possibly die.
- Turning into a Lightwarden.
- This event that forces you into another body.
I cannot remember any other events that are as deadly a threat to us individually to the point where we could actually straight up die if we screwed up even once or gave up.
I can still remember how angry I was that Fandango pulled off the shit that we got to experience as the second Ala Mhigo boss with Zenos having the nerve to take over your body in deception.
I’m aware. Not everyone feels the same because they don’t experience the same things. But I’m saying this in general because of that point in ARR; sure they decided to make you play a different character. They do so because it provides exposition on its own, but in this case they want to play risky with our life, when I’m fact we have not have had as many life-threatening challenges that could end us so easily.
It also adds to the WoL’s determination if you think about it.
Thought it was great, I don't think I've ever felt worried for the other Scions like this before. My only complaint is that Square wussed out at the end and didn't have Zenos cause any damage, even just wounding someone.
