6.0 Healer Feedback Thread

I have the feeling that with endwalker we have more healing to do.

Of course I'm not talking about normal pulls, but with big pulls (getting all you can pull at once) and in some bosses I have the feeling that I have to heal quite a lot more than before...
Oh ,well, and not with warriors. They just heal themselves.

It might be me not using the Sage well, of course, haha.

Yeah I've been feeling it but at the moment it could still be the latter point, not playing SGE to its full capacity. I helped a friend through Holminster Switch yesterday and another friend who was tanking (and pulling wall-to-wall) said "oh, you playing how low can you go?" and I said "not intentionally" and we did wipe on a pull I normally can handle just fine.

I am hoping that's a sign of healing being better balanced to make us work harder or if that's how SGE is balanced. I can no doubt test this and do the same dungeon again as AST, but with the server queues, I am trying to spend as much time as I can working on MSQ and getting better with SGE. Maybe somebody else has insight there or I can wait and see.

I've leveled my Sage through dungeon spam to 80 and I can say for the ShB leveling dungeons that healing wall to walls was never easier.
I can instantly reshield the tank on the run between packs once every mob has a dot and get Toxikon as a bonus, so the tank starts with full life once everything is nicely stacked and ready to get lasered. I usually start a pull with 3 Addersgall because I don't need them on the run when I have EDiagnosis and Pepsis and aoeing with a pointblank around me when all the mobs run at different speed is a coinflip anyway. Eukrasia once the aoe madness starts in case I do need a quick shield.
Haima is insanely strong for single target heal, I usually let the tank drop a bit (so Kardia doesn't overheal), use Haima and Kerachole for the mitigation before it gets the trait. Haima usually lasts the full 15s.
Physis II next and Taurchole next to snapshot the 10% additional heal from Autophysis. Soteria if necessary, otherwise I often use it late into the pull when I want to let Addersgall recharge for the next pull. I think I only had one tank that required an EDiagnosis at the end of the megapull in Qitana because I ran out of resources.
Addersgall on demand from Don Mheg onwards, Holos from Qitana onwards. Especially Holos is a nice addition because mitigation stacks with Kerachole/ Taurochole for really spicy pulls or in case I ran out of Addersgall.

And for EW dungeons, Sage has Panhaima on top of Haima for big pulls. 100 potency less per shield but still extremely powerful.

Slightly over 2 days in with SGE and I am still enjoying it, it's level 85 now. It feels closer to where SCH should've been in 5.0, I actually feel like a shield healer again, and I've not encountered the long monotonous single button spam yet, there's been a little, but not a lot because I get enough procs for Toxicon, that may change if damage ends up not frequent or strong enough to build up Addersting. But if I can pre-empt if somebody is not going to dodge an AoE, I get a free Toxicon! So Black Mages, stay in your leylines. I hope this experience continues - if it does once I am geared at level 90, I will happily give my approval to this job.

I briefly tried out AST and the RNG is not great, I feel like they need to give us Sleeve Draw back. Where I was suggesting there was an improvement in cards before the expansion? Sadly there was one fundamental detail I was wrong about that makes Astrodyne only a slight improvement one cards. Astrodyne's recast buff doesn't seem to affect Earthly Star and I expect it probably doesn't affect Macrocosmos. The benefit I cited was that it'd mean you could use these more frequently with Astrodyne. No, it just seems I can spam heals and DPS faster.

Interestingly, I think I spam Malefic/Gravity more than I spam Dosis/Dyscrasia. I was expecting it to be the other way around because of cards.

So I think I will stick with SGE. Even if I start hitting that 70% downtime again like in ShB, I think out of the healers I'll have the most tools to break up the spam attacks.

I've not touched WHM or SCH yet. I know my usual co-healer has tried out WHM and she still hates it and is likely to main MCH again.

I expect then it was probably me still not using SGE efficiently as I have other healing jobs, which I guess is expected on a new job, so I am taking my experiences with a pinch of salt. Maybe next time I run Holminster Switch I'll handle it better. I was able to handle everything except the second big pull, that's where the wipe happened and it's probable I over spent some of my tools.
