If the story is good, it will stand on it's own whether you know what's gonna happen or not. If the story has to rely on surprisepikachuface-shock-value-momenting you every turn, then it's a lazy and poorly written story. So far the story has been very cliche and predictable at every turn, which I'm not saying as a bad thing, but rather that it has been enjoyable despite this, and without having to resort to jumping out of a box right into your face.

Plus the more psychotic you act the more power you give to people that get a laugh out of shouting spoilers. If they don't get a rise out of you, they get bored and stop doing it.

tl;dr no spoiler culture is such a tumblr thing, and tumblr is dead. move along.

Can’t help but feel this is a bad hot take on the matter.

Not going to address your views on the story save to say I disagree, it feels clear to me you haven’t gone through all of it, though I may be wrong in regards to that. I still disagree however.

All of that having been said, folks are right to wish to avoid spoilers. Because if they get spoiled, they are, in turn, robbed of a memory that would have been otherwise genuine and true, and held deeply within their hearts and cherished.

Instead spoilers rob them of these moments, of these memories they would have otherwise had. I feel they are justified in wanting to minimize if not outright negate that issue entirely.
