I mean, you people realise that it's not normal to bury your head in the sand to avoid spoilers, right?

If the story is good, it will stand on it's own whether you know what's gonna happen or not. If the story has to rely on surprisepikachuface-shock-value-momenting you every turn, then it's a lazy and poorly written story. So far the story has been very cliche and predictable at every turn, which I'm not saying as a bad thing, but rather that it has been enjoyable despite this, and without having to resort to jumping out of a box right into your face.

Plus the more psychotic you act the more power you give to people that get a laugh out of shouting spoilers. If they don't get a rise out of you, they get bored and stop doing it.

tl;dr no spoiler culture is such a tumblr thing, and tumblr is dead. move along.

How is it psychotic to turn off a chat and avoid social media for a couple of days?

Can’t help but feel this is a bad hot take on the matter.

Not going to address your views on the story save to say I disagree, it feels clear to me you haven’t gone through all of it, though I may be wrong in regards to that. I still disagree however.

All of that having been said, folks are right to wish to avoid spoilers. Because if they get spoiled, they are, in turn, robbed of a memory that would have been otherwise genuine and true, and held deeply within their hearts and cherished.

Instead spoilers rob them of these moments, of these memories they would have otherwise had. I feel they are justified in wanting to minimize if not outright negate that issue entirely.

Playing a social game and turning off the social aspect of it is eyebrow concerning at the very least.

I've cleared all story content of the game, including beast tribes. All of it had been predictable or done in some manner of way before, and some of it is very cliche. This is not saying the game is bad, just not as good as people that do not consume literature or other forms of story telling media hype it up to be.

I think these people you speak of need to be worried about other things in their life if moments in a videogame are memories held deeply in their hearts and cherished. Maybe they shouldn't be playing videogames till they sort other stuff out in their lifes.

This has long been a hybrid of social game and single-player RPG. Shutting out one side to focus on the other is hardly remarkable.

I would elaborate further then, as that is not the way your post came off initially, but rather, utterly dismissive of any viewpoint in regards to the story and others feelings about said story past your own. Your views and life is not that lived of others.

Regardless, I still don’t agree. There is no difference in my viewpoint of closing off all chat filters in game to enjoy the story vs shutting oneself in during a winter storm and curling up to a fireplace to read a good book that just releases. You may not hold that viewpoint, and that’s fine. But I don’t. Truth be told, I’m kind of surprised by how antagonistic you are being in regards to this. But, c'est la vie. Follow your own path. I’ll follow mine.

Some of us work in healthcare related fields and are dealing with nightmare fuel right now in our lives. Secluded from friends, family, and overworked beyond measure. To those of us affected by such, I do not find time spent with friends and memories forged with them in this game when I cannot be around them IRL, especially with the insane work hours I pull every week, to be the thing you paint in such an abhorrent, abstract light. But rather, a way of connecting with them and a communion of our friendship and the joys we share in life together, given current circumstances.

I would hope that you would update your viewpoint in light of this. Not all are afforded the opportunities you may find yourself blessed with. And your life circumstances are not their own, much less mine.

Enjoy your day good soul, and be well.

I do too, I work in a pharmacy. Nice strawman attempt via sob story doe. I do hope it was sincere and not you using healthcare personnel to push your point.

I am not. I am stating fact. It is not being used to push a point, but rather help illustrate how time with friends in this game when work and life circumstances prevent one from being with them, can be a good thing for one’s mental health. Rather than the light you wished to portray it in.

There's a bit of context here that you're ignoring.
As in the why people will do it.
