This is a laughable reasoning. People barely use the public chat at all, even in Limsa. If you saw more than 3 bubbles in the Aetheryte area that would already be considered "busy".Chat bubbles are nice in theory (especially for role playing) but can you imagine the extra resources that would consume in a populated place?
Overall it’s a tiny amount of people that want chat bubbles and they have been asking since ARR - it’s just not going to happen.
In game voice again not going to happen - no need to reinvent the wheel as there are plenty of existing options for PC/Mac and PlayStation.
I don't know where's the place you find people chat publicly (With Say)... Because everywhere I go barely talks in public...
Also chat bubble is pretty good, with option to turn it off or on, it's not a problem to implement.
More often than not, people who use /say are gilselling bots. If anything, people who "chat" openly tend to use /shout instead, for whatever reason
/say requires people to stay within a certain proximity of each other to see the chat. /shout just requires them to be in the same zone or map.
No thanks, already turned player names off because of the clutter.
I really don't like clutter and usually have everything turned off except when I'm in combat. As long as they give me the option to turn off chat bubbles I'm okay with it. Big no to Voip though.
so, as is often mentioned in these threads, RP is the main goal of them adding chat bubbles. I mean, thats fine if seeing words in a white bubble is more "immersive" for your RP experience thats fine, everyone;s mileage varies.
honest question though to the RP crowd asking for these....
SE hasnt been exactly what I would call "supportive" of RP'ers, if you do not recall, there were bans earlier in the year for advertising RP events, (while the RMT people advertised their hearts out and nothing happened to them)
somehow, I do not see this idea for chat bubbles leaving the ground, regardless if its under the players control. not worth the development investment.
