I don't remember all my macros (other account) but i distinctly recall macroing a lot of "embrace the tank".

People say they want micromanaging but then use macros to auto target fair heals. I hated it.

Im not going to lie that it had it issues back then and there was a lot of problems. but for me i didn't really mind micro management of the system. and with the storm blood alot of QOL has happened. but doing that imo took some things out that made it stick out more.

Is this guy for real or was the healer gameplay actually that bad? Using a macro to achieve optimal gameplay? How can anyone want that type of playstyle?

Macro'ing embrace wasn't awful, at least for me personally, it gave a sense of taking more control over the pet AI even if it wasn't the most "graceful" way to implement that game feel. I always had my pet commands bound to my controller crossbar so when they made a big to do in SB of saying that pet actions were now player actions I was disappointed because it meant I couldn't use the pet actions as oGCDs anymore (nor could I pilot Eos anymore during moments where the enemy CC'd me or I was otherwise indisposed by firing embraces manually due to having that bound on my controller crossbar)

Those are just some of things I know that I refer to when i say that I feel like they took the tactical healer job fantasy away from SCH over the expansions and SCH just felt clunkier and clunkier as a result and more and more of a vibe of "losing control" over certain aspects of the job began to sink in over those expansions.

back then you had to level alot of skills to have them cross such as stone skin, protect , eye for an eye and virus for healers.

I lowkey wonder if the reason that not-Peloton wasn't given to Selene to give her a reason to still exist, outside glamour, is because "it's too inconvenient/hard to switch between fairies" (even when they're now instant cast). I mean, Selene was always the support/offensive fairy and Eos the mini WHM no? so it just....made sense? or am I missing something

summoners switch summons aruond in their rotation, idk why they couldnt have given us a skill that swapped the fairy AND also did a heal or some buff to compensate for the gcd/weave slot.

I... don't see what's wrong with that? Macros are a mainstay in other MMOs and an outright staple in WoW. The reason macros aren't generally used in FFXIV is because their implementation is as horrific as the netcode is. If macros actually worked the way they should, the vast majority of jobs would use them. GNB and DRK got abilities reworked in Endwalker to what they would be if macros worked properly.

The reason macros are basically unusable in FFXIV is because they have no ability queuing, which is only a problem if the action you're trying to perform can't be done during another action. Macroing the fairy didn't have that issue.

Let's not forget WHM, you see how they skipped over its slide in no time? And all we got was this new auto turret heal so we can spend more time casting f cking glare with its 1.5 second recast time.

I'm out, ive uninstalled FF14, I was expecting to be disappointed but its still baffling that they managed to DOUBLE DOWN on 5.0's changes.

this makes their "couldnt think of what to do with sch" quote make a lot of sense

what IS there to double down on for shb scholar? all they did was take away dps buttons and fairy actions. the only thing they actually gave to sch in 5.0 was the regen in sacred soil and fey blessing/consolation (seraph is literally just rouse but flashier lmao)
