    Seriously?

I ran addons on WoW, and I ran what I needed and what I wanted. I never felt pressured into using more addons than I wanted. I kind of chose what I wanted and needed, like an adult.

You could do the same. Anyone could.

This is all moot anyway, tbh.
yes i used some mods wen i was playing wow...i just imagined the situation with dark humor. not big deal, it may sound odd buy the way i imagined the character was funny.

SE did everything they could to not require mods, and the WoW players come in expecting to mod it like it's the default thing to do...

I wonder if you also try to have your local elected officials make laws banning something your next-door neighbor does in the privacy of their own home that has ZERO effect on your life. If you aren't, well you're doing that exact same thing here.

It puts players who actually play by rules and/or on console at a significant disadvantage on higher end content.
Please PLEASE give examples of how someone that has a different-looking HP bar gives them an advantage over you.

Why does the bust slider stop at 100%?

Not sure if all of y'all are being disingenuous or are truly uninformed. Often times UI mods do more than just alter the appearance of the HUD, they also add additional features. If it was purely cosmetic, then no one would care and certainly no one would be worried about being excluded from any content for not having the mods installed. As I said, I'm on console so I don't use any mods nor do I spend much time investigating them, but even I... through my casual consumption of FFXIV related content on YT, discord, and other forums have caught wind of some of what some consider problematic features of some of the popular UI mods.

TBH I'm pretty sure WoW doesn't require mods either. However over usage of them on that game has probably caused the skill level of the player base there to degrade to the point they can no longer play the game without them.

I still think they should have slowly upped the difficulty of the game as we progressed through expansions. Most offline games increase in difficulty as you progress further into the game. (Though in the case of a number of open world titles it ends up getting easier because ppl do all the sidequest stuff before progressing the story so they're horribly overgeared/overleveled for it.)

But they are just cosmetic. I've looked at them.

The only people that complain about this are either console people sad because they can't do this or the self-righteous people that feel they need to police the game themselves. They don't care that it has no effect on them, they just need to feel like they are powerful and got someone banned.

Not just cosmetic, the launcher has some really neat non cosmetic stuff. Like i said the combo combiner that turns your hotbar into pvp system. A hunt msg that tells you when someone spots a hunt monster in chat. When full GP a sound is made. So you can watch something while waiting on gp to recharge. Lots of neat stuff.

I think it even has a min cachpot helper that shows you what areas to do (even though dont really need it.)

I see nothing wrong with them myself, but to each own.

A very good friend of mine did World Progression on TEA on PS4 and has week 1 killed every savage since Deltascape in Stormblood before all of the various add-ons get updates.

Your UI doesn't substitute for skill. Hence why 99.9% of statics will take you for a test trial to gauge your skill in person first before making a decision. If a group mandates add-on usage while ignoring a player's skill, that's their loss, but it's a blessing in disguise; it gives you a giant red flag to avoid.

But the more people who use them, the more people expect others to use them and it becomes a gatekeeping issue to progress in high end content. I know it for a fact, I've seen it in other games and it's already becoming a problem that will only grow. Don't use damage meters? No invite. Don't use addons to automark things? No invite. It's time to put the foot down.
You said it happens in other games, but I have yet to see it here, and this isn't 'the sky is falling' thing happening. Sure, get out in front of it; however, there is already an avenue to combat this. Like the damage thing - if someone is giving you a hard time over your DPS, it's harrassment. Report them, they actually do take action on this. If you aren't running a modification that's already against the ToS (literally, all of them) and someone is giving you a hard time because of that fact, report them.
