Didn't blame them for it nor did I say they were the only ones doing it. But to deny that every single fight has a stack marker? Come on. Have you been to Bozja?please dont blame SE for doing that. Unless you have not played other mmo's and watched them do the exact. same. thing. if you have never played any other mmo's then your innocence is charming. they figure out some mechanic is cool and suddenly 75% of every new mob uses it. why would SE be any different if its a decent mechanic. It an industry thing, besides, not like SE overuses it to any great extent.
At least SE learns from their mistakes.
Tell me have you seen paralyze show up in recent expansions?
I think not.
Tbh I've farmed sets of Augmented Cryptlurker and I can't remember this at all lol.
Are we talking about a stun or that annoying effect that sticks for like 30 secs and randomly stuns you?
I am talking about the latter, I can't remember it in any recent expansions.

You beat me to it. And then the healers apparently can't find the Esuna button when they don't get interrupted. I try, but I'm only a single DNC.
As to the OP, those fights are annoying if only because they don't always establish just how much more powerful these characters are than the WoL. So especially in SB, you get this mook coming out of nowhere kicking your behind. You find out why later, but it is rather annoying at first.
That's why I've appreciated the couple of instances where someone gets the drop on us and disables us in some sort of magic or forcefield or such. That's a lot more believable.
Only place I really mind Down for the Count is that #*$&$(#&$ elephant in Dusk Vigil. Like someone else said, that fight can just be deleted.
The annoying effect that sticks for 30 seconds and constantly interrupts you.
It's the giant robot trash after the first boss where you jump down.

I agree with you. If I'm going to fail one way or another, then don't even give me a chance to fight. Just pass a cutscene and save my time.

I wouldn't mind if they didn't take so damn long. We get it, this guy's tough, can we get it over with and move on?

As someone who had played every major and most of the minor mmos on the market for 10+ years, I can tell you I have never seen a mechanic as poorly designed and disruptive to gameplay and story telling then ‘down for the count’. No it is not a thing that is done by most mmos, and for good reason. Here is why you do not introduce this garbage to games
1) your wasting the players time
2) your wasting developer resources on creating more phases
3) You create undue stress on player who is good, who is winning but then you ‘dues ex machina’ snap the boss and you fail
4) it’s an MMO, everyone knows you have plot armour, nothing will ever happen to you, you will never loose.
Here is what they should do:
A) make the boss hurt you about 15% of your hp in a hit, [wound] you can’t heal
B) make the boss super quick so that you can’t realistically react, because your skills are not to par. [zone attacks]
C) have the boss insult you, then throw 30-40 enemies at player. So they can’t possible win.
D) don’t have the fight in the first place.
Ideally, to avoid dissonance you do the above
