Race Request- Winged Elf

Joking aside, they wouldn't even necessarily have to make something up, the Aegyl introduced in FFXII: Revenant Wings could work without too many changes to their backstory or design. Mechanically I figure the same limitations as everyone else would apply, so maybe their sprint animation could be (very) low altitude flight as a way to kind of compensate for the fact you won't be able to actually fly for a while? Not sure how self-powered flight would be handled (a "mount"? something else entirely??) though?

I mentioned this in another thread but I would love if flying characters were more of a thing in games in general...

Took them 6 years to create to new races and they half-assed it, do you really think se will bother?

Perfect world is one of my favourite MMOs of my childhood, one of the reasons for me, was the tide born and winged elves. Both races had a unique talent, although I understand that ain’t feasible, I would request a consideration of the races for pure visual reasons.

1) The winged elves, look like humans with pointy ears, with bright wings [white, blue, and yellow for angelic] and dark wings [red, purple, and black for demonic]. In that game, winged elves can fly and glide eons before other races can fly. Instead what I propose is the ability to double jump and glide like demon hunter in WoW

Lore adaption:

The ancient race, alagans? [forget the thing from story], took a bunch of Ishguardians and bred them with dragons through science and magic. They added rthgar [human dna]. The result is humans with pointy ears, who have dragon wings.

The races split early after escaping, the umbral [demonic], and astral [angelic]. The umbral have dark skin colour, and cat eyes, while astral have lighter colours and regular eyes.

The race would be added after endwalker released, in the post patch.

What do you all think? Want a winged elf?

For some reason. Whenever I read "Winged elves" the image of Mobile games comes into my mind. It's probably something they will do and not something SE will.

As a huge fan of both wings and elves, I'd be all over this race XD (Though I know this will never happen.)

I would sooner push for a no-stat gear slot where you can plug extra accessories like standalone capes, glasses and yes, even wings.

someone mentioned flying mounts that are wings? i am fine with that actually. It lets one role play in a lot of other scenerios: examples

1) Flying fox: a catgirl with wings- dear lord, that is gonna be something that will cause erp to explode- maybe not the best idea, but i am selfish and want my wings
2) Au Ra: yes human with wings
3) Bat: mice girl with wings-


Other route, which may seem lame, but make a flying class? Make it an advanced job for paladin or for white mage? White mage already has a spell which gives them wings of light. The next step logically would be to make them be able to hover and glide with them. I would re-roll to a white mage from black if it meant i could fly around

To be fair, he said that a few times after Au'ra came out too, but here we are.

That being said a winged race will likely never happen cause of the flying factor, and why put wings on a race and then not let them fly. They keep everyone on a fairly even playing field so that would never happen.

If we do by some chance get a new race it needs to be its own things, not yet another remade human or elf with different ears and skin color options, or in this case wings. We need something more along the lines of Hrothgar, something a little more unique. Furry races, esp based on cats, and demons have been done to death across various games. We need something a bit less common, a bit less pretty and a whole lot less kawaii.

Alagans are all dead since hundreads of years. Additionally it may be nearly impossible to "bred" Ishgardians with dragons because they fought a war for 1.000 years. I dont expect that they love eachother now. Shiva is an exception here.

When giving wings (as mount maybe?) then like this:
- Elezen got more fairy/elfish wings (insect-like)
- Lalafell got butterfly/angelic wings
- Au Ra got dragon-like wings
... And so on.

unlikely to happen since this is a Japanese game
