Race Request- Winged Elf

Perfect world is one of my favourite MMOs of my childhood, one of the reasons for me, was the tide born and winged elves. Both races had a unique talent, although I understand that ain’t feasible, I would request a consideration of the races for pure visual reasons.

1) The winged elves, look like humans with pointy ears, with bright wings [white, blue, and yellow for angelic] and dark wings [red, purple, and black for demonic]. In that game, winged elves can fly and glide eons before other races can fly. Instead what I propose is the ability to double jump and glide like demon hunter in WoW

Lore adaption:

The ancient race, alagans? [forget the thing from story], took a bunch of Ishguardians and bred them with dragons through science and magic. They added rthgar [human dna]. The result is humans with pointy ears, who have dragon wings.

The races split early after escaping, the umbral [demonic], and astral [angelic]. The umbral have dark skin colour, and cat eyes, while astral have lighter colours and regular eyes.

The race would be added after endwalker released, in the post patch.

What do you all think? Want a winged elf?

I'll be honest, I don't think that will happen and I don't really want to see any new playable races at this point. I do like that you put some thought into it though, and using the "astral" and "umbral" nomenclature of the game was a nice touch. Perhaps in the next Final Fantasy MMO they could consider something like this.

A while back, I remember someone else asking for a winged race (I think it was the Gria from FF Tactics A2). Maybe they could make a comeback some day, although I'm not sure they are popular enough. I actually think a winged race would have been a perfect addition for Heavensward, as that is the expansion that first introduced flying. They wouldn't even need a mount to take to the skies!

To be fair, he said that a few times after Au'ra came out too, but here we are.

That being said a winged race will likely never happen cause of the flying factor, and why put wings on a race and then not let them fly. They keep everyone on a fairly even playing field so that would never happen.

If we do by some chance get a new race it needs to be its own things, not yet another remade human or elf with different ears and skin color options, or in this case wings. We need something more along the lines of Hrothgar, something a little more unique. Furry races, esp based on cats, and demons have been done to death across various games. We need something a bit less common, a bit less pretty and a whole lot less kawaii.

I agree, and they really need to shake things up a bit cause everything coming out of Japan, China and Korea is really looking the same across the board. That is not a dig on those countries by any means, they do produce some amazing and beautiful art, but they do seem to be in a creative rut. If they would get out of their comfort zone they could produce some seriously amazing new styles.

To be honest, if they ever add another race I'd rather have a whole new race than another version of Elezen.

You can't fall to your death in FFXIV as often as many other games. The glide feature for those winged elves wouldn't be very useful. A convenience at best.

I think it would be cooler if we just got a mount that added wings to your back. Everyone could use them and SE wouldn't have to go through so much development time creating a new race, thus giving them more time to add different features.

Sure, just get rid of the glide/double jump thing. We don't get racial abilities in this game.
