I only sweat immersion in single player games or tabletop RPGs. When it comes to playing anonymously with others in an MMO, where people are going to have their own preferences, trying to enforce your own immersion standards just seems like a frustrating endeavor.

Not to mention, the variety of glamour options leads to some really fun and amazing looks, especially in game cosplay.

Yeah, just straight up stop playing multiplayer games if you're worried about people expressing themselves through the outfits they make. Even outside of MMOs there's so many multiplayer games with silly skins or costumes that could be said are immersion breaking. I always can't help but feel a little insulted when this topic is brought up, like the glamour toggle topics that you see going around. Why do you think the developers should be adjusting the gear to your standards? It just reeks of such entitlement. Everyone should be wearing the same damn uniform you or whoever decides that other people's glamours are immersion breaking.

I personally think it's great to see so much variety. There's so many possibilities like the mentioned cosplay opportunities, it's fun to laugh at the occasional silly glams too. Variety is the spice of life and I sure don't want everyone to be running around in full plate armor or whatever just to satisfy your needs for immersion.

Yes, you said you'd like an option to turn off people's glamours. Maybe read your own post? I'd be fine with the second option, but I don't even want an option that lets you change how you see other people's characters. Go stare at a mirror if you only want to see outfits you approve of.

Ok I see you got what I say wrong, sorry it was not clear. What I wanted to say is there he an option that I or any one that don't want to see glams on people can turn them off for them self. Now you can only use programs that can get you banned. but if they do make this new glams part of the world it be good as well as them there won't be a problem.

It doesn't matter man, you're playing an online video game. You can't stop people from wearing what they want. Your best bet is to yes deal with it or stay to single player games... and not FF ones cause this is normal for FF. It was always modern mixed with science fiction mixed with steam punk mixed with a little bit of western fantasy. This has ALWAYS been the case in this series. In other words.... you picked the wrong series to ask for this. Everything we have is canon and fits. Not supported by your own personal RP.. that's on you, not the game.

Do people really get distracted by what others have glammed on?

The biggest distraction for me are all the cat girls who think they have good looking glams, but in reality the glams they're wearing are hot messes of crap that don't look good together.

Where would you even draw the line in terms of 'immersion breaking'? Seems very arbitrary to me. And only seeing unglamed pieces would lead to mismatch outfits that look horrible. You can't have one without the other.

At this point, I notice it more when people aren't half nude. Especially roes. Been seeing a lot of roe skin lately.

Just want to chime in that FFXI has a client-side setting that puts other player characters into a "default" outfit, the starter race-specific gear in that game's case. And people haven't had meltdowns that others may not see their personal expression.

Not that I care one way or another anymore, but if this option were to exist it would never be a problem cause you already can't see what others see on their own personal screens so, just like parsers, unless they said something specifically to let you know or harass you then what's the issue?
