I don't really have any issue with modern style clothes, especially since modern or anachronistic designs have been part of FF nearly since the very beginning. That said, I would much rather there not be people running around in frog suits, chocobo suits, pig suits, etc. That's far more immersion breaking to me than someone wearing what appears to be blue jeans.

They should just copy the FFXI system, it would open up a new world of possibilities and then maybe (some of) the people wearing Sims or mascot outfits won't feel like those are their only options anymore...

I will continue to wear jeans and t-shirts and more "modern" and casual outfits as long as the game continues to try and push robes and skirts when I don't want them.

Given the setting of the game I'd say the only thing immersion breaking is the people complaining that their immersion is being hurt.

I imagine if implementing something like this was as easy as typing in a few lines of code and flipping a switch, it would have made it into the game already. But technical complications aside, I'll never understand why people looking for a purely immersive experience pick MMOs as their game of choice, especially when the company behind this one is famous for its amazing library of single-player RPGs. No matter how many toggles and arbitrary rules you try to see enforced, there will always be people running around with silly, non-RP names, saying and/or doing things that aren't in-line with whatever fantasy universe they find themselves in.

Considering none of this nonsense shows up in your cutscenes, I honestly fail to see how it's 'immersion breaking'. Worse case scenario, someone's pig suit makes it into your dungeon cutscene, but you can review it later in your inn without those pesky other players, so no real harm done either way.

It is a game where we can all express our very own final current fantasies, as "can't IRL but i wish I could" fantasies.
Because of that, it is impossible for everyone to "match" others fantasies; those won't always match yours. Some would like to see lalas everywhere, others nude catgirls, etc.


I do understand the "immersion issue" and, could it bring a base for roleplay people - a ravaged world where refugees struggle to survive, where locals wear traditional clothes, etc. - I believe that being able to toggle off others glams is a very interesting option.

Because we're not supposed to be surrounded by "Saviors of the world" ("Saviors of the world" EVERYWHERE), we're supposed to be the Neo in the Matrix.

Well, Neo is kinda dark-goth-a-little-classy-yet-too-much so can't argue with his clothes, he's stating his fantasies himself...
