Who is your least favorite major character and why?

Eh, I guess I would say Gaius because he’s so damn boring and I don’t know why they had to bring him back. I didn’t care about him back in ARR either. It annoys me that his entire explanation for why he didn’t die in the Praetorium was basically just “Well, I was going to let myself die but then decided ‘Nah, not today’ and so I didn’t.” I still have no idea who those two people who hang around with him are either. As far as I can tell they don’t have either names or personalities. If they really had to have a Garlean for Estinien to hang around with, why couldn’t it have been Nero or something?

I beg to differ-- and I say so shamelessly because I'm a massive fan. He is arguably one of the most well-written characters in the entire game and I wager you say that because you likely skimmed through his whole story from ARR onwards. You obviously didn't know him back in 1.0-- he was actually more impressive and one would think he had Sun Tzu's Art of War in his back pocket at all times. Matter of fact, at some point-- several years ago-- he was so popular that some players speculated he was related to Solus and would become Emperor.

He was literally the face of the Empire in all the 1.0 commercials --same as how Derplander was the face for the NA and European commercials (while Y'shtola became an instant favourite in Japan). Plus, his "Vadar-like" voice acting back then was absolute perfection-- not the "forced" voice used by his ARR voice actor.

• And THIS where he cleverly hands you the intel needed to foil Nael's plans

Wait till I find my videos of his three dreadnaughts constantly flying over Limsa, Ul'Dah and Gridania before Dalamud fell-- just menacingly flying over our heads, silently watching, silently waiting. It was almost unnerving and yet one had to hand it to the guy-- he had style.

This chap was Emperor Solus' favourite Legatus, conqueror of five cities, ruthless executioner of nine aspirants to the throne, and he secured Ala Mhigo for Garlemald with very minor casualties without having to forcibly invade it-- he was such an exemplary tribunus angusticlavias of the XIth Legion that the Emperor created the XIVth Legion just for him.

And that's just his back story-- if his later tales didn't evoke the feels then the entire nuance of this great charcater has escaped you.

Anyway, least favorite character is a tie between minfilia and thancred. I kinda checked out from the story for most of the time while minfilia was relevant, and she is a big reason for that. Writing wise she was just so uninteresting, and let alone useless to do anything. Not very good qualities for someone who was supposed to be the leader.

As with thancred, I really just can't identify with his character at all. He's pretty boring, and most of his motivations boil down to "save the girl, because girl." And that's fine and all, could just be executed in a more interesting way.

You know, this is a really hard question... honestly, I really like almost all of the major characters in the game. It's a credit to the games writing! Sure there are some I enjoy seeing more then others, but there are none I hate. Like, using examples here, I like Zenos and the mad obssesion he has with our WoL. Very surpised to see G'raha Tia often mentioned here too. I love that soft catboy!

Had this been pre-Shadowbringers I would have said Thancred easily. I dunno why, but I was never fond of him. Seemed a bit, I dunno, slimy? Thats not the right word, but I distinctly remember being fine with the idea he was dead post ARR. Then Sahdowbringers comes, and he is given one of the best arcs in that story, if not the game itself. I really understood him as a character.

I do think that Tataru is a litlle... annoying at times. I get why she is like she is, they are a sweat character, but out of the main ones I just find her my least favorite...

Lyse, because the only useful thing she does is the LB3 in that dungeon. And even then, she's not always the one to do it.

Definitely gotta be Y'shtola for me, I'm so sick of her having no personality traits aside from being the oh so sassy one. Also isn't Flow supposed to be some super dangerous spell? If she uses it again in EW and doesn't die for real I'm gonna be so let down.
Though I guess it's thanks to her that I don't hate Lyse as much, despite her punchable face.

Among all of them, I have to make a choice between Lyse, Arenvald, Fandaniel, Zenos and G'raha.
G'raha is saved because one arc is very good. The rest isn't.
Lyse is snooze, I can't remember anything that I like about her, even her "punch first think after" is failed. She was in the shadow of many great characters such as Gosetsu.
Arenvald, I never cared about him, most of the time I'm reacting like "Oh it's that NPC".
Fandaniel is very close too, he has potential. But that's it, he's saved simply because he has a "secret", truly nothing else.

SB Zenos was great, an imperial prince that cares not for power but the war is only for his own enjoyment. Post SB, nothing works, you don't directly see him from 4.1 to 5.55. His motives are still unclear but if they remain "I just want to duel", unless there is a great writing I'm goint to hate him. I was happy for a few patches that his obsession with "my only friend" started to feel like a second motive to him. Aaaaand 5.55 just broke that and came back to that thing again.
They should have teased something about Zenos, something about his past and character.
Loved what he used to be, hate the "I want the end of the world for my duel" character.

Imagine falling of a plane and you have a parachute. The parachute will either strangle you or save you.
The obvious choice is to use the parachute, if you don't you die anyway.
Flow is not dangerous itself, it's a teleportation spell that has many downsides. Using the parachute example, it would be like if the Parachute would have you stuck in the skyes until someone helps you.

As for now, it's a tie-in between g'raha and Zenos. Now that I think of it, I just hate characters who's worshiping the WoL. It's creepy and annoying.

However, I kinda dislike ryne too, but the problem isn't her personality or whatever, but more like because she has no reason to exist in the game and only did because the devs can't be bothered to develop minfilia (after baiting us with ShB trailer).
