Who is your least favorite major character and why?

Lyse, her transformation from Yda to Lyse was literally without any character developement. They just needed a strong figure for the ala mhigo liberation front and basically made Yda/Lyse in two quests from a funny goofball into a omnipotent monk which uses limitbreak on every encounter in stormblood and rules over ala mhigo without having any experience at all.

Felt like they didn't know what to do with papalymo and yda so they killed one off and butchered the other one for their stupid writing. Let us be honest, stormblood was in general just boring bad writing.

How very nice of you to completely ignore her character development throughout SB. You want a character who has zero development? It's y'sthola. Compare her in arr to ShB, and you'll see she only 0.1% changed (though the same could be said to urianger as well).

Lyes is written having a realistic flaws and all, and she kinda manages to outgrown it. She has little experience with leadership, she knows it, and she's afraid because of it. Yet she keeps trying to get better. After 4.1, we see her being better than at the start of 4.0. The fact she gives the Ala mhigo leadership over to raubahn is to show that she knows her limit and act accordingly to that.

People like to use the "she has no development" excuse, when they mostly just hates her for different reasons. Some hates her because they prefer yda personality, some may hates her because she's hot headed; and I say it's okay, I also have characters I hate just because, but don't use the "she has no development" excuse.

And really? Her using LB is problematic to you? Y'sthola has been using the equivalent of lb3 ever since SB despite being blind (using the dangerous draining technique), yet no one has problem with it.

Anyway, least favorite character is a tie between minfilia and thancred. I kinda checked out from the story for most of the time while minfilia was relevant, and she is a big reason for that. Writing wise she was just so uninteresting, and let alone useless to do anything. Not very good qualities for someone who was supposed to be the leader.

As with thancred, I really just can't identify with his character at all. He's pretty boring, and most of his motivations boil down to "save the girl, because girl." And that's fine and all, could just be executed in a more interesting way.

They sorta tried to handwave it a couple patches later by having Alphinaud mention that under the bridge is a swirling sea of chaotic aether that no mortal could hope to survive, with the implication that everyone in-story would already know it.....but then we have to remember that Alphinaud and the WoL should also know that their frequent enemies include the Ascians, who are not mortal.

Lyse, because the only useful thing she does is the LB3 in that dungeon. And even then, she's not always the one to do it.
