So im a bit confused. People want their pronouns respected but, why dont they just play as the gender they wish to be recognized as? This seems like it would solve the problem, especially if thats how they see themselves irl.
Edit:This is a genuine question btw. I'd love for some of the people advocating for this to explain it to me cuz i really dont understand.

You can make female characters pretty masculine with certain tank chest pieces and that one monk/drg top from PVP. And with Viera coming out you should be able to make a convincing woman that has male pronouns. I don't think there's any gear that adds breasts, though.
I don't know why your friend didn't make a male lala if they didn't want to be called 'lass'. Most of the time I can't even tell the difference between a male and female lala depending on what hair/gear they wear.
Once again, a niche feature for a niche audience when the game has bigger issues it needs to address.
Probably going to have to wait until the next FF MMO to make something like that happen.
There is always Temtem XD
There is no logic to it don't bother to try to understand it, it's just an omegawoke thing. So im a bit confused. This is a pure troll thread 100% and you guys have taken it too far. The short answer is no, the devs will not add all these new "pronouns" because they'd have to dig through ALL the game's coding and adjust all the dialog and bring in the voice actors to re-do it all... at an immense cost of both money and time. Also keep in mind the whole pronoun/gender identity thing doesn't really exist outside the US/western Europe. (aka where the woke madness resides)
i not sure Pronoun are needed the warrior of light is refrer as the refrer as warrior light i never seen ffxiv quest giver called by their gender or anything sure they gender language through i like female character refrer as female character and male refrer as male character in "really life" gender prornoun has no point for one you may have one set then next you may have different set through even the really world as suppose those who push could be see as fantasy world because it basic on they prospects and it just as much fantasy world as in ffxiv is
For some people they may wish to have something closer to their actual body type represented while still being able to use the pronouns they identify as. I think that's part of the reason for some that male Viera has received so much love. Finally there is a chance to play a male character with less stereotypically masculine features and with more slight, 'feminine' builds and same goes for facial features. But yeah, think of it this way. If you're a cis woman (cis meaning you identify as the same gender you were assigned at birth) and happen to have a really tall and muscular build think of how excited you might be to have the chance to play a femroe - 'cos it's not often you see that kind of body type for women represented in games. Same goes for a lot of cis guys and male Viera I'm sure. While a lot of trans people may experience gender or body dysmorphia not all do, and everyone contends with such issues differently. For some folks it would mean a lot to them to be able to have something closer to their current or actual body type rather than perhaps their ideal body type represented in the game (talkin' about self-insert here) and STILL get referred to by their correct pronouns. And then when you consider nonbinary folks (whom can be considered trans, although not every nonbinary person identifies as such) they have a whole range of body types obviously and don't identify as a man or a woman (e.g., they/them pronouns). Now, like I said before, from a game dev standpoint adding in a third gender option seems to me to be more difficult than separating body type from pronouns but yeah. I'm not a game dev, though! Nor am I trans! So I could be getting lots of stuff wrong here. But I figured I'd try and answer your question anyway. So im a bit confused. People want their pronouns respected but, why dont they just play as the gender they wish to be recognized as? This seems like it would solve the problem, especially if thats how they see themselves irl.

Tbh, especially as far as video games at large goes.
I'd say that applies to most male characters in FFXIV :P.
In fact I'd say Final Fantasy in general.
