Then why bother? Seriously with over 60-100 possibly even thousands of more genders to be added to the list, not every entity and non entity is going to be a he or a she. So doing s/he is not going to be inclusive and is more insulting to many in the non cis non binary crowd.
Honestly, it's tough territory to navigate. No matter what they do there's going to be certain groups of people that are unhappy with how they do things. It mostly comes down to upsetting as few people as possible. Then why bother? Not needed.
At. All.
This.
The tiny minority that would be upset with a he/she toggle because it doesn't cater to every single pronoun doesn't really matter when there would definitely be a lot more than those happy/ambivalent towards said toggle.
Those who even USE neopronouns are a minority of a minority of a minority. Let alone those who still act like the 2014-2016 tumblrinas it seems almost everyone's worried about here. Those who use Xe/Xie, or Fae/Faer, or what have you, are more than understanding of the work it would take to implement every single pronoun in game (having to rewrite dialogue since some pronouns act as "they/them" in that they're singular plurals, having to program more than a toggle, etc etc.), or are simply ambivalent since they are used to not having their pronouns on everything.
Those that would be upset enough at not having their specific pronoun catered to... well, they're also the type who would be upset at every single little thing, so theres no appeasing them anyways, and I don't think Squeenix should even try.
Yep! Maybe we just pay too much attention to lore-appropriate names ahah...For NPCs at least, you can also generally recognise Lalafells' genders by their names. Ejika Tsunjika is very definitely a male Plainsfolk name with the two-part rhyming structure; female names are always three-syllable repetitive though the pattern varies by clan (Tataru, Nanamo, Kururu); male Dunesfolk are four-syllable (Papalymo, Gegeruju) but N counts as a syllable (Papashan).
I am not even against a gender-neutral pronoun, I just really think it should be a new word instead of a word that also means something else.they

Forgive us when we want to have the things we love not be corrupted by outside issues or politics. I feel like this game and the dev team has gone through great lengths to accommodate as many people as possible with this game, without going too far as to ruin it for everyone else. I'd like to keep it that way.
I think I'm not the only one who tends to treat everyone with respect regardless of who or what they are. But we can only be so accommodating when it comes to changing the things we love. Personally, OP's suggestion being implemented would leave a sour taste in my mouth. Does that mean I'm a transphobe? idk, I feel like the definition of that word grows broader and broader everyday.
Also, shame on you for necroing this thread XD
Please explain to me how giving someone the option to have a different pronoun in the story is corrupting your experience. If you don't want your character to be referred to as "they" then simply don't select it. The story is a solo experience.
The new meaning is close enough to the old one that it can be stretched out, and people understand the rules to use it and adapt it ("they are", "them") instead of trying to remember several new terms.
It's already used in multiple ways, after all – multiple people or an ambiguous reference to a single person.
