Actually, as a Japanese person with characters on both JPN and NA servers, I think the disconnect that often happens is that people believe that just because a game has international audience that it has to have the same cultural norms of other countries. In Japan, one will hardly ever, ever see a man dressing as a woman, except for otokonoko types (what the Westerners call 'traps'), which is a totally fringe group. While I respect these people for living how they desire, the fact is Japan is very, very conservative still. In work, you're even told what color suits you may wear, women are told what color hair they are allowed to have, etc. I get it that many Western cultures are really relaxed and allow everyone to just be however they like, but please also try to respect that Yoshi-P has gone out of his way to address many of the things that the mostly Western audience wanted even though it may have not really been as appreciated by the Japanese community (like, I believe, male bunny suits?). Yes, it is an international game, but it is informed by the culture of those that produce it and who have probably lived with Japanese cultural norms all of their lives.

He's not arguing for female outfits for males, but more to do with how the outfits were handled for Nier for males.

Then why, pray tell, do they keep engaging players on Twitter for feedback? While I agree that they should stick to their vision, on a forum frequented by people paying for the product you can expect that you will see many asking for specific things out of the game. Obviously there is disagreement over that. Let's not pretend, though, that they're indifferent to feedback when they provide venues to extract it...

    "this would be cool" Feedback.

"this is the way it should be because it's the current year" Demand.

The vast majority don't want that garbage in the game.

And a lot of them, I am one of them, would like to see dresses and other things like the thavnair gear unlocked for males. If only to make it so that things like playing a transgender character is made simpler. Not that I would do so myself, but I bet there are plenty of transgender players that would like to be able to create a character they can relate easily to.

Can't players just play their preferred gender and RP their character as transgender and 'transitioned' though?

Yeah, this option would mostly help GNC folk. (as well as people who just want more options in general *shakes fist at ShB BLM AF*)

I think the term "genderlock" is weird, it's not like the outfit are always created for the oposite gender aniway the developers just choose to not adapt the outfits. Removing genderlock is not a good idea for the players who want a classic masculine character.

Adapting the outfits takes time, doing it for some of them is understandable but all of them? When they couldn't even make a 9S outfit for nier (equivalent of the 2B i mean) and there is something really close already why not making it for all jobs? The developers are not stupid, they knew players wanted to cosplay 9S as well or at least having something nice for the masculine characters.

Not enough i gess they want to RP as the "guy who transitioned". I don't see the difference but it seem being a guy is very important. Male viera can do that maybe lol idk. I don't understand why ppl don't want to play a girl when they want a feminine character.
But prepare for more "remove genderlocking" threads and twitter asking for that as well.
