It seems like the man has the patience to allow an intentionally slow, somewhat padded MMORPG story to unwind, which is important for this game. The story is great, but it takes a really specific mindset to be able to get the most out of it. If he's having fun now then he'll continue to enjoy himself all the way through.
I do think the endgame is where FFXIV will lose him, though. No PvP; No small group or solo content to tackle; He'll basically need to organize an 8 or 24 man raid anytime he wants some engaging content for his stream, and even that won't last very long.

Mispronouncing almost everything(obviously for his chat) aside, I see nothing wrong with this first impressions what so ever. Its nice to see. I look forward to more impression videos when the honeymoon phase starts to fade. I also think its amazing that he knows the little ins and outs of the story and the vast majority thought he would skip it, I give him props for that.
It's an act if that wasn't obvious already. He's a entertainer and is here to entertain. People loves it and the memes are flowing.Mispronouncing almost everything(obviously for his chat) aside, I see nothing wrong with this first impressions what so ever. Its nice to see. Indeed! Their Peer-to-peer download wasn't very effective and from what I hear it still this way today but obviously don't take a day and a half anymore.
Yeah it's funny what misconception does to some folks here in our dear community. The guy isn't bad who figured.Am glad you guys enjoy him, may he stick around forever. Or something!
Frankly, I couldn't care less.
Funny tho how in the beginning Asmon and his wow community have been feared by basically everyone.
This really is a weird game, or is the place just weird? The times?
Something.
So basically what WoW does?TBF buying EW now is not much different from buying SL before it came out. That said, having to wait for a key is silly at this point.
What's really confusing is the starter vs complete vs Shadowbringers stuff.
What they should do is have two options:
Final Fantasy XIV (includes ARR>Stormblood)
Shadowbringers (is Shadowbringers)
Then when Endwalker is released, ShB rolls into the base game. So it's basically the reverse of what we have now, and I think would be a lot less confusing.
Hah yeah, I mean if he can get through ARR, nothing will stop him.
There's plenty of things he can do that will mirror what he does in WoW- tmog competitions, mount offs both can happen here, he can probably get the same amount of 'chat ban appeal' vids out, he will have plenty of savage/ultimate raiding to do, he'll have a considerable amount of mount farming to do.It seems like the man has the patience to allow an intentionally slow, somewhat padded MMORPG story to unwind, which is important for this game. He'll likely do at least a full clear of the deep dungeons, I wouldn't be surprised if he does the side content like Eureka/Bozja since that's great for a group. I can't see him getting through everything any time soon.
What I can see being more likely to lose him is the game being far too balanced- streamers in general like WoW because with the right gear/spec/items/etc... they can utterly dominate in dps meters or in pvp over players that lack that. Look at how many wow high light vids are pvp vids where someone two shots another player, or is getting wailed on by four guys and taking no damage then turns around with their fully enchanted, fully buffed bis gear and kills all of them in two globals.
That's what's exciting content in WoW- in FFXIV, that's just not going to happen.
