It probably didn't help that after clearing Playonline ultimate you then had a 14 hour download to do. Every file One. At. A. Time.

Yeah...that was bad. Was basically the same process for every update for me. My internet was crap back then so it easily took longer than 14 hours. lol

He's loving ARR and you think he won't like ShB?

If anyone can love ARR's story they deserve a medal. But yeah, if he's enjoying it now he's in for a real treat later.

He was right in that XIVs biggest negative is actually paying for the game. If they could simplify the process (maybe allow for payment for the game within the launcher or something of that nature) I feel like that would allow for more purchases from the free trial. As it is, getting the free trial is easy but you need to look up a tutorial in order to actually get the full game.

I’m glad he’s enjoying ARR, and it seems like he might even enjoy the post-ARR slog!

What I can see being more likely to lose him is the game being far too balanced- streamers in general like WoW because with the right gear/spec/items/etc... they can utterly dominate in dps meters or in pvp over players that lack that. Look at how many wow high light vids are pvp vids where someone two shots another player, or is getting wailed on by four guys and taking no damage then turns around with their fully enchanted, fully buffed bis gear and kills all of them in two globals.

That's what's exciting content in WoW- in FFXIV, that's just not going to happen.

I would say, let him decide what he likes or doesnt.

everyone is different after all, and what you seem to find exciting, seems a little ridiculous to me. to each their own, which is one of the nice things about life, not everyone is the same....

This whole Asmongold thing has been a not so great ride, forums have been pretty disinteresting with so many obsessed with hating on him, defending it by associations, etc, of course loving him would be nice to be kept in a few threads rather than 20 but the negativity has been like this hot garbage fire. Back when the forums went into "ist" and "ism" wars on the developers for the racial split it was also like "ooof". Been some wonderful bait by our professional pot stirrers though.

Having watched the video, and a small handful of others, I can't find a reason why we shouldn't be very excited he's bringing so many eyes to FFXIV. It is good the GMs have taken some actions on what I saw recently. Makes one think of saying GCBTW lol, but then again the thing to remember is the forums, and the people being weird to him in game included, make only a fraction of the player base so.. best not to continuing the painting by association, it's just a small excited fragment - as is probably most stuff in communication in general (here and in everywhere.

Hope he continues to enjoy his time with the game, and FFXIV can benefit from this all - if FFXIV, as it is already doing on it's own merits as well, could continue to get more and more popular and achieve greater funds, and the company of course allows FFXIV those funds (important.. lol), that would be pretty neat (memory problems begone! ). Or far more dangerously, but I think still could be potentially really exciting, a new mmo being produced calmly and unlike FFXIV 1.0 was (not rushed, still be baked in the oven to chef kiss perfection).
