I'm going to say you don't know his community then. They're not doing this because they don't want him to play. They're doing it to annoy him. Because they like doing that and he "reacts" to such. I don't personally get the fun of it but it's just something that happens to big streamers. Stream sniping has always been a thing and Asmongold in particular has an audience that is very much on-brand doing this exact kind of thing.

Couldn't tell you. I don't frequent(as in I've never seen one) his streams to understand how his fans act when he joins different games, and I don't hang out on Twitter or other social media sites where people tend to be a lot more... Hive minded....

I just think there's a lot of people (on both sides) being disingenuous in these threads here.

No one in my social circles first MMO was XIV. I played a dozen or so different ones before coming to XIV. We don't care what game people come from. Most XIV players are like this. Not sure where all the wow hate came from. It's always been XI hate here until seemingly recently.

you're right, I don't have a particularly high opinion of the LGBT movement - or rather, very vocal people in it, having had plenty of bad experiences with those very vocal people who used it to abuse, groom and gaslight other people and avoid responsibility of their behaviour by hiding behind being semi-famous figures in said communities and criticising them meant you'd get banned for homophobia or other things, or just straight up having a pocket mod or mod powers for no reason and thus they could flaunt said power around to silence anyone that disagreed
I also don't like the oversexualisation of pride events in my country, that children are in direct contact with hard kink/fetish content there and that that's perfectly okay - because I think it's not
I'm gay myself, but those things are what keep me from being a vocal supporter of the lgbt movement

there's also the commercialisation of pride stuff/month, which I find downright disgusting, especially because 99% of those companies did nothing for lgbt rights before or actively were against equalisation before - but now they're all totally pro-lgbt and they're totally not after your money - and how so many people eat this capitalistic shit up while they hate on those very same companies (and half the time capitalism) in the 11 other months of the year
maybe hivemind was the wrong word, but you yourself explained it better than I ever could in the beginning of your quote - young people, be it kids or young adults still searching for themselves, are being taught that being overly aggressive to anyone with a differing opinion is how a normal discourse works and that cancelling someone for something they said years, if not decades ago, is also a completely normal and valid thing

Saw this earlier and I couldn't agree with you more. It's one thing to be proud of being the "other". It's another thing entirely to participate in degeneracy. I'm bi and I can't stand the LGBT movement. My trans bf and I are just trying to be normal people, which is what the movement was supposed to be all about in the first place, and has since mutated into this awful, exclusive club where members make the rest of us look like total degenerates. The world gave us an inch and we took several miles. This is far beyond "equality" at this point. I understand that this isn't on topic of the thread, but I just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one out there who feels this way.

FFXIV players can play both FFXIV & WoW.
They can follow Asmon on social media even if they don't play WoW.
They could have heard that Asmon was coming to FFXIV from FFXIV content creators.

The behavior displayed last night was mostly caused by FFXIV players with max-level characters. Whether you like it or not, these players are a part of the FFXIV community. Bad actions speak louder than good ones.

The entire community cannot go to Cactuar. It's on the Aether Data Center, which nobody but players on Aether have access to. Painting the entire community with a large generalization like that is insulting to the rest of us. If people said, "Wow the Aether DC community is toxic," a lot of us wouldn't be having as much of a problem (because, you know, a lot of us aren't on that DC and can't make a comment on how good/bad it is). But don't paint the EU, JP, and all the other NA players as being this bad when IT'S PEOPLE ON A SINGLE DATA CENTER, AND MAYBE 300 AT THE MOST. I swear I don't know what's wrong with you people and looking for excuses to paint the entire community as bad.

The NA community is still a part of the FFXIV community. People outside FFXIV do not care about NA/EU/JP differences. If they see bad behavior, they are going to generalize it. This is what happens in real life. One bad employee can easily ruin the reputation of their company with bad service. I never get enough of him mispronouncing the different names in the game X'D I legit laugh every single time he either mispronounces a name or comes up with yet another hilarious pronunciation for a same word he's mispronounced before. I can't blame him since a lot of the names in FF14 are so tough to figure out how to pronounce correctly without hearing them. But after hearing some of these names pronounced (sometimes frequently) in cutscenes yet still mispronouncing them, I'm starting to think he's doing it on purpose and I'm here for it XD
