Some people have this weird head canon that FFXIV community is trying to stop him playing the game
Edit : this nice outdated forum removed half of my post which I wrote after I used an mobile emoji which isn't supported it seems
Not really a conspiracy when you had people literally saying this ingame and on social media.
I'm in EU so I haven't seen it personally in-game so not much I, as a invidual can do regards reporting these people.
All I can do it call out the hypocrizy here and on reddit.
You mean like people who play WoW get grouped into the people who are toxic in that game? Aren't we supposed to be held to same standard?

Then why are you, a person inside FFXIV, accepting that generalization and running with it instead of simply addressing the specific people in question while still encouraging the broader community to not act that way?The NA community is still a part of the FFXIV community. People outside FFXIV do not care about NA/EU/JP differences. If they see bad behavior, they are going to generalize it. This is what happens in real life. One bad employee can easily ruin the reputation of their company with bad service. Well, these badly behaved FFXIV players are runining it for the rest of us. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's what's so strange about this whole thing. People who claim to be against toxic elements of the community are doing it by making blanket statements that would just feed into any stereotypes that can be held by people outside of the community.
I kinda figured it had to be intentional. Like, I've understood 'Asmongold' is most definitely a role being played live so yeah. I've been watching him do stuff in FFXIV for a few hours now and I definitely get what people meant a while ago when they expressed that they hoped he'd play FFXIV off stream as.. well, Zack, himself, rather than as 'Asmongold'. He'd probably be able to take his time a bit more and understand things if he weren't streaming it and primarily experiencing the game through his stream persona.I never get enough of him mispronouncing the different names in the game X'D I legit laugh every single time he either mispronounces a name or comes up with yet another hilarious pronunciation for a same word he's mispronounced before. I can't blame him since a lot of the names in FF14 are so tough to figure out how to pronounce correctly without hearing them. But after hearing some of these names pronounced (sometimes frequently) in cutscenes yet still mispronouncing them, I'm starting to think he's doing it on purpose and I'm here for it XD
Because the weak do not have any valid arguments and they love the claim victim hoodThen why are you, a person inside FFXIV, accepting that generalization and running with it instead of simply addressing the specific people in question while still encouraging the broader community to not act that way?

This is pretty gcbtw.
So report them if they're doing something wrong, people here seem to complain that SE is too active against toxicity so if someone's threatening someone/harassing him in chat it'd be an easy ban.
Do you personally feel guilty for the actions of others, do you find yourself to be to blame for other people harassing him? If not, why would you be blaming other people who also aren't responsible? From his stream- looks like a small amount of people harassed him for a while when he started; compared to him in classic where people stalked him and stream sniped him for months with the intent of stopping him from being able to play the game at all. If anything, he's getting harassed far less than usual- so perhaps that's a good sign, that his usual stalkers have been largely discouraged due to the community, and maybe we can push the rest of them out by making it clear that's not allowable here.
If you want to see how some in his community act- check out his 'chat ban appeals' to see what they say, almost every episode has at least a few slurs, some extremely disgusting things said about women, and some other highly offensive stuff- some by people who have been following him for years. So it's fully reasonable to believe that those few haters who stalk and harass him everywhere he goes would do so here too.
Or, how about how Blizz representatives themselves treat the guy that gives them millions of dollars worth of free advertising each year? They openly insult and bash him on twitter, and promote people on twitter who are threatening to false flag him.
End of the day- go after the people who are actually harassing him, hold them accountable. Pointing the finger at the rest of the community and saying 'why did you all not stop these random anonymous people from bothering him!' like that's something anyone here can do just makes no sense. Especially if those people are on twitter- twitter's the worst place on the internet, nobody here controls what people there think or say on twitter and we shouldn't pretend we can.
Pointing the finger at innocent people and saying they're part of a toxic community isn't really any better than people calling Asmon toxic for things he can't control, so don't be part of the problem.
Serious honest to God question, if I'm an idiot for not knowing then I apologize, but, what does GCTBW mean, I know it's an abbreviation but for what?
Reason I ask is I seen it pop up alot but I have no clue what it means.
