Unlike you, I've actually been taking great care to consider what players on both sides want and how they feel.

I'm not one who wants world PvP myself. That doesn't mean I want to deny others who do want it.

But I would expect any open world PvP to be restricted to isolated worlds added specifically for open world PvP so its existence would have zero impact on my game experience or on yours.

I still don't think it will happen regardless. It does not fit in with the lore for this game.

There was a mentioned thing about a status that could be clicked on for those that want to partake in it. I'd be fine with that.

I despise open world pvp for the harassment aspect. There's a lot of low-life players that would camp low-level zones just to one-shot new players over and over again. Also this would let bots rule the overworld. They would just hide underground and pelt people with spells and/or bullets/arrows with 0 retaliation against them. Doing MSQ or sidequests only to get killed for walking by underground bots? Yeah. 11/10 experience there amirite.

Which is why it would have to be restricted to separate worlds. Those with no interest in it wouldn't be bothered by it because they wouldn't select a PvP world to play on.

We already know from WoW that having "normal" worlds with option to toggle PvP on/off does not work.

I can understand why some people might want more PvP here but personally I'm against it, FFXIV isn't really a PvP game and there's plenty of games out there that can give you the fix you want.

Yeah ESO has Cyrodil for open world PvP and it works fairly well to contain PvP in its own isolated zone. Unfortunately population and interested has really been declining recently in those zones and there's been a lot of complaints because things that get added to PvE then break PvP and it's just a lot of anger and frustration atm TBH.

Oh that's another thing adding significant PvP does, it then requires the developers to suddenly start balancing for PvP. And that can take a long time and cause a lot of angst if it isn't. Both Destiny and ESO (both mainly PvE games) have significant PvP problems because of this, ESO with the proc sets and Destiny had the shard meta running rampant with Titans and Hunters.
