I still don't get this. Joining a PvP server is a personal choice, why complain if there is PvP? Seriously.. It's not even griefing anyway, in my view, in the first place. If you sign up for a PvP Server of a MMORPG that has PK always active, you better prepare for the worst. As it has been stated before, it is fun to bully the weak, especially if they dont learn from their mistake and keep repeating the same mistake over and over.
Usually, a MMORPG that has this kind of thing going on offers both a PvE as well as a PvP server, a PvE Server doesnt becessarily mean that youre cut off from all PvP related content, but instead, it just wont gave the PK feature always active. And turning said mode off in such a Server, makes you completely immune to any griefing unless you hit them back.

People generally only complain on WoW because you can have your body camped for hours which wouldn't happen here. You take your body back to your home Aetherite. I'd imagine that if open world PvP were to ever be a thing here, a lot of WoW refugees would complain about the lack of camping.
Technically, but it's not that easy. I for example played WoW classic in a PvP server because my friends, who of course played rogues and mages, begged me to...and I hated every single second of it to the point I just outright quit (not that I was enjoying it anyways, but I digress). Could I have opted to not play in a server I knew I'd get ganked nonstop by people 40 levels higher than me? yes, would I have ended up playing alone if I chose a PvE server while my friends where in the PvP one? also yes - so it was my choice, but at the same time it wasn't.
A new server means new housing.
And it may not always be a personal choice if you want to play on your friends' server, but you don't want to PvP.
So that's a no for PvP servers in FFXIV. If there must be open world PvP, it must be a fully opt-in mode on regular servers with no way to force anyone into it.

And? It is their choice 100% whether they have friends there or not. Also, frankly, if someone doesn't want to PvP and they join a PvP server just to take up PvPer's housing? ..A new server means new housing.
