Roegadyn master race.

I would absolutely love a PvP flag for open world. It's something I genuinely miss from my short time playing WoW and other MMOs.

I dont miss it for a moment, I loathe pvp, and I loathed the players and their toxic, and to use a description from an actual WOW GM, hyperaggressive and abusive personalities. Like a guy in WOW in open world jumping up and down and spamming duel invites, when i said no, the vituperative, obscene and threatening language he used was , IMO, enough to have had him arrested in reality. it was THAT bad.
Open world pvp is your fun at someone elses expense.
Like ganking, where some max level player ganks and camps another player who is at a much lower level and..I have seen this with MY OWN EYES..bragged on how he did it for so long the player logged off and never came back , have seen pvpers brag on camping one person for hours, never letting them get away, and literally wrecking their game experience for his own lulz.
Let that sink in a moment..they were PROUD of the fact they ganked a new player to the point they drove them away from the game permanently.
"They can always go somwhere else"..better idea how about you leave them alone..then of course theres pvpers killing questgivers, killing NPCs, killing flight points, or camping those spots and attacking anyone who wants to use them.
Or camping raid entrances and attacking other players for the sole purpose of making sure they never get inside.
The word sociopath comes to mind.
IS THAT what we want here??
A FLAT NO.

Sorry Artemiz, I call em as I see them.
That term was ALSO used by another WOW GM I spoke to.
Ill add a note: what I posted above, I am 1000% certain has been in the minds of the devs and they are under no illusions as to the size of the can of worms that open world pvp will create.
Which is why I am certain it will never happen.

Oh don't get me wrong, I liked your post as I agree with most of it. It's just that, earlier in the thread someone used that word and people got rather offended. It's super serial apparently and "character assassination" I got called a liar and a hypocrite for about 3 pages and all I did was accept it was a joke, I didn't even say the super bad power word.Sorry Artemiz, I call em as I see them.

Bruh you think that if SE gave us world pvp the game would suddenly turn into Ultima Online, or a murder hobo session of D&D? Ye of little faith.I dont miss it for a moment, I loathe pvp, and I loathed the players and their toxic, and to use a description from an actual WOW GM, hyperaggressive and abusive personalities. WoW never balanced classes around open world PvP because it would be impossible to do so. You can't balance around player created content that's highly variable depending on how many want to join in. They balanced around Arena, which works very differently. I would imagine SE also focuses any balance they do for PvP here around the ranked modes as well.Oh that's another thing adding significant PvP does, it then requires the developers to suddenly start balancing for PvP. And that can take a long time and cause a lot of angst if it isn't. Both Destiny and ESO (both mainly PvE games) have significant PvP problems because of this, ESO with the proc sets and Destiny had the shard meta running rampant with Titans and Hunters.
Brings tears to my eyes the change of view of PvP from FFXIV players. Maybe we’ll get gear stats again so we can use gear earned from PvP in PvE.
Balance has no place in PvP content. If you balance things out too much, every class literally becomes the same and all that distinguishes them from one another is on how much dmg they do and how long it takes to take it down (sounds familiar, doesn't it?). Tanks and Healers in FFXIV arent even worth engaging (unless half your alliance backs you up in Frontline Roulette) because how boring and onesided it is.WoW never balanced classes around open world PvP because it would be impossible to do so. If you want properly working PvP, you need to design Jobs in a way where alot of variety and possibilities exist. Certain Jobs WILL and should be more difficult to play than others, because they need to approach combat from another angle for example, but by doing so, it allows combat to be far more dynamic and more importantly, fun.
