That's when you don't kick them and force them along with the fight so that they afk and get reported after we finish or they leave themselves and take the penalty..

I will never kick a mentor out again.. if they wanna sandbag they can accept their report or leave and take the penalty.. if they demand to be kicked that's just more fuel for the report..

The echo will gladly make up for the loss in dps from them even at 10% and always has so far.

That's why Mentor Roulette is always the last thing to do on my daily agenda, so I can just quit and call it a day if I get an Ex-Fight. But yeah, I usually do tell people to take it to the PF before I take my leave.

And sitting there for 15 minutes until you can cast a vote? Naa, thanks. I'm good. I'll just play something else.

Ok so maybe I worded that badly. There is nothing wrong with new players using DF to do an EX. Any mentor should be able and willing to teach new player an EX and if it is clear that the team can't clear it vote abandon.

If they fake DC, you have no way of proving they did so intentionally beyond your assumption. Which GMs will not accept. And if they DC, you lose LB3, making the attempt more difficult for any new players. All to prove some silly point to a player who likely couldn't give a damn. They went off and played something else, or logged into a second character should they have one.

You also ignored the example I provided. If someone sandbags by simply using only a small portion of their kit and getting hit by every other AoE, you have no recourse to report then. GMs will always err on the side of reasonable doubt. A mentor playing poorly isn't reportable. If it were, well... there's a whole lot of DR players who'd be banned by now.

Finally, they don't need to convince you. Just four players out of seven. While you may be petty enough to try and force them to stay, others may not be since they want to either clear or leave themselves and try again.

All in all, you're creating a far worse environment for new players by likely wasting several minutes arguing or dealing with someone who doesn't want to be there.

Accurate. This roulette is only worth the queue if you have the time set aside for the penalty. Extremes are bad enough, with some being more likely than others for a clear, but the real villain here is Praetorium.

I refuse to touch msq roulette for a reason, and seeing Praetorium pop up in mentor roulette is a very silly thing considering it negates the msq roulette bonus.

That said, if you want to participate in any of the endgame(s) of this game, you are beyond the scope of the mentor program. I don’t care if it makes you mad if your df extreme party collapses at the gate; that’s not my concern since you’re trying to df endgame. I’ll happily encourage a hard lesson by eating the penalty so anyone else can escape scott-free.

Exactly. It's hypocrisy. Doing a new trial in PF with a phase 1 learning party, an add phase learning party, a last phase learning party and finally a clear party is totally normal. People practice the part they need practice with and often need several pug groups to succeed. You see this each time another unreal trial is released. Yet mentors are expected to carry 7 newbies to a clear in 1 hour.

It's not like we don't try to teach but often it feels like the first timers are taking the p*ss. My usual Ultima trial requires me to repeat "intercept/touch the orbs before they meet or we wipe" at least 5 times until someone gets bored of wiping and asks "what are we doing wrong". Like... this is not a mentor problem. Players who did not bother to read or watch a guide, who did not bother to open the text guide I linked, unsurprisingly also do not bother to read what is in the chat. I'm willing to literally hold their hand and explain each of the 9 phases in Thordan ex but we're not going to clear it if the same 6 people get killed by charging knights every. frigging. time.

We're all capable of doing so, yeah. The question is if we're willing to do it. Most of the time I wasn't. So I just left and read bad fanfiction for my timeout sessions.

Then you have no right ever being a mentor

And you get to define what is a mentor and what is not?
