Mentor Roulette should have longer lockout time

Instantly dropping out of synced ex trials without an attempt at communication shouldn't be an expected behavior for "mentors." Honestly the whole thing with mentors not wanting to mentor for rewards is an issue, but this can serve as a temporary measure.

No. I'm going to mentor you and tell you to take it to pf, like us normal people do.

That's why Mentor Roulette is always the last thing to do on my daily agenda, so I can just quit and call it a day if I get an Ex-Fight. But yeah, I usually do tell people to take it to the PF before I take my leave.

And sitting there for 15 minutes until you can cast a vote? Naa, thanks. I'm good. I'll just play something else.

It's not a mentor's responsibility to teach you the choreography for an entire extreme trial that you used Duty Finder to queue for.

The vast majority of people who are queuing for extreme trials instead of using the party finder are people who do not understand that an extreme trial is a fight with unignorable mechanics and non-optional choreography to handle those mechanics. The best advice a mentor can give those people is that extreme trials are fights with unignorable mechanics and non-optional choreography to handle those mechanics, and that they should use /partyfinder to put together a party that understands that. Even if--especially if--they want to do the fights syncked with no foreknowledge.

If you don't want mentors leaving extreme trials, people need to stop queuing for them unprepared expecting mentors to put up with an hour of explaining mechanics to people who aren't ready for the fight in the first place.

No, all extreme stuff should be given the [ultimate] treatment and only be queable with a full premade group, instead of subjecting mentors to undergeared and likely unprepared newbies, its one thing to teach the ones that WANT to learn and a whole nother thing when 3/8 are undergeared severely and dont wanna listen or even put the barest of effort towards said extremes, mentors are humans, we are not gods that can carry everyone through every single synced extreme.

And queueing for synced ex trials shouldn't be an expected behavior from anyone, yet here we are.

Doing EX and harder content in general requires a specific mindset lv50 sprouts are unlikely to have yet, I wouldn't blame anyone for dropping on sight, it's a flaw in the game's design to still have quests telling people who are still very new to use DF for ARR EXs.

In my opinion, the flaw is with the mindset some mentors may have (not saying you or anyone here specifically, this is in general), where they want to earn their mentor rewards while putting in as little effort as possible. Does the JP community not use the DF for this sort of content?

What needs to happen is actually all rewards removed from mentorship, including the crown, even better would be the closure of the system entirely.

Disagree. Left a majority of my Ramuh and Leviathan instances. Stayed for Ultimate Weapon, Garuda, Titan, Ifrit and Heavensward. My punishment was the penalty and I’ll accept it as is.

Why should they be forced to say anything? So you can potentially report them easier?

It's not common knowledge for new players, but Extreme trials are best recruited for via the Party Finder. You can even find a group of players willing to do it synced if you are patient. Most of these trials aren't really DF material, though there's a few that could probably be completed during a lockout if everyone works together. Either way, if someone chooses to leave a group, that's their decision. And they get hit with a penalty for leaving. 30 minutes is long enough. Personally, if I had Mentor Roulette unlocked, I'd probably bow out of more than a few Extremes, especially the likes of Thordan. I actually did get Thordan Ex for my roulette a few years ago when I was all caught up on the trials. I spent the entire lockout wiping 40-50 seconds in. Every. Single. Pull. Advice was being given, but no one was listening. Never again. The Party Finder is best for these things. Please use it.
