I did it for my Astrope mount. I’m not going to lie and come up with a noble reason. Immediately afterwards
I took off the crown and rode into the sunset on my two seater.
That's perfectly fine and thank you for being honest. I want to reiterate I'm not trying for a "Gotcha" here. I personally don't run it even though I am a mentor because I'm not willing to fulfill what I personally believe the commitment is.
I'm just curious why people think it exists. Why would we have this totally random queue potentially for difficult content with an extra reward attached to it?

(That post count and date joined sorta made me wary, but just in case this is genuine....)
You probably will have some luck if you're using DF for those contents in JP DC, but NA DC? That's like asking for a punishment, be it to your time spent or your sanity. Save yourself some potential headache and use PF----or if you're simply looking for a clear, do them unsync with the help of your friend if you even need any.
DR:Mentor is the "Game, put me where you need me," button. It's an "I don't need anything specific myself, so let's see what other people are running," button. It's even a button I'm willing to press ten or more times a day for no reward, as the achievement tracker stopped counting my runs years ago.
But it's not an "I'm willing to commit myself to 45 minutes of Praetorium cutscenes" button (there is DR:MainScenario for that) and it's not an "I'm willing to explain the mechanics for an entire extreme trial from the point of view of each of the four roles so that people who don't know how to extreme can complete a trial within the hour" button. It's ludicrous to think anyone should be compelled to stay for either of those things, nor should they be held hostage for the fifteen minute lock on Vote Abandon. If they want to leave and eat the 30 minute general duty penalty, let them.
Error 3102 Club, Order of the 52nd Hour
I dont have access to mentor roulette since the goal was moved for commends.. but I've lead my fair share of Exs trails as a crafting mentor.. yeah thr combat mentors are usually thr first ones to leave once they load in or demand to be kicked without even a pull.. ive had to 7 man a number of Ex primals with sprouts and still managed to clear thanks to thr echo (by 7 man I ment the combat mentor said kick me or I'm going afk.. we refused they went afk and got a free clear and 7 reports)
The Exs are honestly not that hard and if they're signing up for them they're willing to learn you just need thr time an patience to teach them.. heck until recently I was on ps4 teaching Exs.. its so much easier now that I have an actual keyboard lol
I'd only be ok with this if EX trials were removed from the roulette (which I think they ought to be, anyway)
I can guarantee you that a good chunk of the mentors who get placed into an EX trial aren't even able to "mentor" how to do it at its original level, because they only got their clear via Undersized Party later on (possibly specifically because re-unlocking the mentor roulette requires all previous xpac EX trials to be done) and don't actually know anything about the DDR/mechanics required -- that or it's been so long since they've even ran the content that they may not even remember the fights anymore. Not true for everyone certainly, but I'm sure there are a lot that fall under this category.
Can't vote abandon for 15 minutes. Takes way too long.that should be done through abandon vote, not instantly leaving without saying anything
Helping primarily newer players with queues/directions for beginning/storyline content. Not rehashed optional fights that are obviously meant more for veteran players anyway. For what reason do you (people who run mentor roulettes, not DF EX's) think they are for?

EX trials should definitely be removed from Mentor roulette. As they stand right now they only exist to punish mentors with either a 30 minute cooldown if they leave, or with an unwinnable 1 hour fight if they stay. Because that's what an EX trial is with a bunch of undergeared new people that don't know the fight. Impossible. You can't explain the fight AND clear it within 1 hour.
And while we are at it, I agree, remove MSQ from Mentor roulette. Mentor roulette is supposed to be for experienced players helping new players and you can't help someone watch a movie.
Many of the EX trials are doable though the ARR ones in particular are not that difficult and most of the time its like a 6/2 - 7/1 split between mentors/sprouts so majority should have an idea of the fight.
Leaving immediately is just being shitty respect the time of people who waited to queue and try the fight at least a couple of times and you can get a feel if its doable or not.
I’m of the opinion that EXs should stay in mentor roulette.
Someone has to be able to tell others how to use party finder!

So why would they put those into the queue if they didn't want you to possibly be matched with inexperienced players or run "extended" instances?
Again, I'm not asking what you use it for, I'm asking why people think it actually was implemented the way it is.
