I fail to see how relocation can ever be an issue, if someone moves from Shirogane to the Mist... then you would free up the one, once had in Shirogane, relocation does not effect the current amount of houses other than moving property to another area.

Alternative would be to remove timers from housing, but then you invite RMT.

the problem with relo and the current invisible timer is you have people who can relocate without waiting like everyone else, so on hour 12 of a plot being open and 15 people waiting to buy it one person comes over and relocates into the plot, resetting the timer on the new open plot and wasting everyones time. For players wanting to relocate there needs to be a small window at the start of a plot opening for them to relocate, after that 1-3hrs window closes they should be required to join the rest of us in trying to get the house by clicking and waiting.

Today: Relocator joins campers at noon, claims plot. Campers move to relo plot at noon for fresh timer.

Your suggestion: Relocator joins campers at noon, all camp together until midnight. Relocator wins. Campers all move to relo plot at midnight for fresh timer.

Do you see how this suggestion just makes things worse?

No, you're not comprehending the problem here. The average wait time for an invisible timer is around 11-13hrs after it becomes available. In the scenario you propose for today, if the relocator joins the campers at noon, what I AM saying is it is likely those 15 campers have already been there for a good 4-10 hours just clicking hopelessly and when the relocating person shows up he has no wait, he trumps all others efforts, instantly taking the plot and resetting essentially resetting the invisible timer for everyone at his/her old plot.

my suggestion is that the relocator has a window of 3 or 4 hours when the plot very first becomes available where their trump card still works, the timer is ticking but their trump card works still until hour 4 we'll say, then after hour 4 if said relocator is late to the party and finds there's 5 people who've been waiting for 8 hours at the timer he has to join them in waiting and clicking, thus preventing wasting everyones time because it is understand and accept he had the same chance as us to get the plot, with the added benefit now that there is still another one available albeit with a reset timer. ultimately i would like the timer to go away, se to make land deeds available for trade on the market board but that comes with it's own set of problems that many players and SE would not want but hell, it would still beat waiting days and days when i could be doing dungeons and it would beat the sketchy black market we once had where if you want a house you paid the price but had to rely on the other person being honest in the deal. deeds would give everyone security and price the houses where their value actually is.

Did you not read my post or something? Yes, currently the relocator would claim the plot instantly, letting the campers move to the new plot instantly. You're suggesting everyone click together for 12 more hours, and then the campers move to the new plot after that big pointless exhausting waste of time you suggested.

maybe the issue with our discussion is a difference in servers, on coeurl there is usually 1 plot available every 24hrs, so the problem for those of us camping isn't the lack of places to camp, it's the amount of time we are sitting at the placard, the relocator doesn't help us by giving us another plot to camp, it just prolongs all of our agony, and trust me when you camp for a week and 4 plots in a row are relocated into and you have to goto bed because you can't stay up another 12hr window each time, it becomes an issue. Also your suggestion doesn't remove the exhausting "everyone click together for 12 more hours", it takes a camp someone has already done for 6 hours and adds on 12 more with a new timer. What i'm suggesting doesn't remov the 12hr window, even if the relocator doesn't get the house it's still 11/12 people that have to goto another 12hr window again, the only difference is it's not just giving one person a right to overule 12 other peoples efforts.

The relocator just moves the open plot to another location. That's what relocation means.

The relocator (in most cases) already had their battle with the timer to get a house in the first place. They haven't skipped anything.

The length of the timer is the real problem. Capping it at 3-4 hours compared to the 24+ hours (or whatever the max length currently is) would be a significant improvement while still serving the purpose it was intended for. That's more than enough time for a plot to be noticed by multiple prospective buyers so a flipper can't just "hand the keys" to another player in exchange for real money or massive amounts of gil.

We effectively had that back before 4.1 when there was no timer. Players DIDN'T welcome it. That's why SE ended up implementing the timer. It put a major stumbling block into housing resale for RMT or inflated gil fees.

A lot of the social economic issues we have in the real world are due to land barons jacking up property prices so ordinary people have a difficult time securing a place to live while still being able to afford things like food, clothing, transportation, etc. Let's not encourage the game to repeat real world mistakes.

If you want to play land baron, go play real estate tycoon games instead of MMORPGs.

No most of them have not, most of them have had their houses before this began but my solution is still valid, they still get a trump card if they show they are watching and they dont have to play the waiting game if they dont want.

I completely agree with this, there is no need for it to be 24+

I agree, it wasn't great and "welcome it" was probably the wrong way to say it, but I think players would prefer knowing what they need to save for rather than waiting and indefinite amount of time in a competitive camping system, at least in the state it currently is in. if they did the 3-4hr window that would be far more appreciated, then first come first serve after that timer and they would still stop people from black market dealing. i think your 3-4hr window would relieve a lot of the relocating stresses too, you wouldn't need a window for relocation then just let them have priority and people would be accepting of that because i think a lot of us who get a plot in lavender beds would love to get a shiragone house if it became available.
