friends should be there for friends, through thick and thin, through good and bad times. friends are the family you chose, after all.
I honestly have no idea how to respond to your post because it is such an astonishing stance that I've never encountered once in my life, I'm genuinely surprised! I'm not sure if you're a narcissist or have some other kind of complex, but breaking friendships over something like that happening ONCE is not normal at all...

This really is not the same as dealing with a stranger in a game being incredibly rude.

Also no one should be made to feel at fault for having enough self respect that they won't tolerate horrible behaviour even from those they love. Having no tolerance doesn't mean you cut them off the instant they cross a line, it just means you won't allow yourself to be someone's punching bag. You tell them their behaviour is not cool, wait until they calm down, and then talk again later. No one should ever have to feel like they should endure abuse just to prove how loyal they are. Loyalty does not mean you accept any kind of treatment, it means you will always do your best for a person and sometimes that does mean showing them their behaviour needs to change, and staying with them while they work on that.
