Of all the RP servers I've been on in other MMOs, the RP was never enforced, the majority did not RP, and the players I've observed, did not give the impression they were pressured into RP when presented by an RPer.By putting RP on the door you effectively force others to adhere to anything RP. Example: One would have to listen to you RP in parties, Shouts, Say and even in my tell. You would then respond to any complaints with "You shouldn't be on an RP server then." and don't act like that wont happen. A simple response would be to create your own BRAND SPANKIN NEW server where we can send you all to live happily with those of your kind without forcing others to be a part of your hobby.
I'm sure those were already designated RP Servers from the get go and if not then RP is usually kept low key and to private chats where they cannot disturb others. People have a choice to avoid RP servers when if they know they do not like hearing it. That being said it goes without saying that you probably never encountered anything negative from All the MMO's because of those reasons.
In terms of behavior, Besaid is already like those official RP servers of other MMOs, just without the beacon to guide new players toward it. Maybe there's a time of day where the RP'ers come out into the streets, but as far as EST evenings are concerned, I can't find RP'ers in Ul'dah.I'm sure those were already designated RP Servers from the get go and if not then RP is usually kept low key and to private chats where they cannot disturb others. The RP must be kept in low key, private areas, or odd hours now. I cannot find RP unless I go out of the way to find it or find someone that wants to make a point against RP by making RP-like shouts.
I have seen one shout and quite a few say in ulda. I don't mind it much as long as it is kept to a min or out of character earshot. Now the fact still remains that Besaid is a not an Official RP Server, as stated by Thevedis. As good an intention you may have to plaster RP next to the merged realm, there will always be those who will take advantage of that "Beacon to guide new players". I know not every RPer is a Jerk or needs to overextend his reach, with that, there will be someone or someones who will take the liberty to RP anywhere. Those who never wanted to interact with RP will not have a leg to stand on because a collective group decided that Its okay to make a change for everyone instead of establishing their own server. You are in essence bullying your way into the server because Its the "Unofficial server". I believe that The server(s) should "Officially" stay a normal server and an "Official" RP server should be made separately. If RPers want to stay in The newly merged server, then stay but be Unofficial as it has always been.In terms of behavior, Besaid is already like those official RP servers of other MMOs, just without the beacon to guide new players toward it.
