I do see what you're saying with the servers.
And if I were representing Square-Enix, my response to this thread would be similar to (and more properly proofread):
"Thank you for your feedback. At this time, we do not have plans on implementing an official role-playing server during the current world merge. We will continue to consider your feedback on this topic and other specialized rule sets for servers to be introduced in 2.0. At that time, we will allow character transfers to servers, including any servers that may have specialized rule sets."
This and a handful of other threads recently have reminded me that new players on the whole need to be targeted, retained, and server populace must have the flexible to welcome and engage these players. And while I do see why the thread was created and prefer the RP server debacle now, I heed to Bahamut's point which your post also expresses in regards to community choice being presented with a brand new server with an influx of new and returning players, rather than utilizing the existing communities.
