Aren't there 2 Voids in the game? There is the 13th Shard which we call the Void. However there are structures there since we go there in the World of Darkness raid. And then there is the Void that the Ascians get sent back to when you destroy their bodies but not their souls. Elidibus traps us there during the Warrior of Light fight. Who's to say which void we are summoning an avatar from.
