I was actually wondering about the minions I had ordered as they were also delayed. I found out there's actually a button at the top once you've opened the mailbox that you can use to "request orders" and this should put a direct call out to have the mail sent to you right away. Or at least that's how it ended up working for me. My minion order was delayed, I clicked the button in the in game mail box and my mail arrived in a few seconds.

Got order confirmation at 8:26am and still hasn't shown up by 4pm. I did not get to log in until a bit after noon but I'd hope that had nothing to do with it.
