My thoughts. Square Enix gets away with it because the content delivery is consistent. Promise you in other MMO's they start questioning the meaning of their lives and what is the point of this MMO as these types of things are seen as cash grabs.

FF14 is a very very unique community that many MMO devs would kill for on the number of RMT items they put in the MogStation. I grabbed the Lunar whale and Rydia minion to support Square Enix because they have treated me as a player with respect by valuing my time and not making FF14 into some RNG grindfest.

Well said! I recently left WoW for the very reason you mentioned, over the years it's felt more and more like they simply don't care about players' time and just want to milk 'em for what they're worth.

I recently transitioned to FFXIV, despite having grown up playing effectively all of the FF games, and I gotta say... I'm loving it so far.

Definitely going to get the new whale mount, not only because hey, who doesn't want an 8-person mount for funzies? But because I actually really like the idea of supporting SE and this game. ^_^

Regarding the riders being inside, is that how it's done in FFIV? I believe I read that the Lunar Whale is how the characters in that game go to the Moon. So I think it would make sense if they're inside instead of riding on top. But if they did ride on top in FFIV, then it's too bad about the FFXIV implementation, but it suits me as a lone rider, heh.

And all the people still being surprised about the price should've looked at the pattern with past account-wide mounts.

To me it would only make sense to travel to the moon inside a robo-whale instead of on the outside. It's awfully cold in space.

Lunar Whale is a high tech airship. More like spacecraft. If it had it's actual size it could probably be compared to Garlean Flagships.

Since I've only ever given people rides rather than riding anyone elses mounts - do riders hear the mount music when riding your mount?

Passengers will hear the music if they have mount music enabled. My FC was enjoying it very much as we flew around randomly for about 45 minutes this morning.

They didn't ride on top in FFIV.

The lunar whale is a *spaceship*. You go inside the spaceship and fly around in it like any other space/airship. You're not supposed to be seen from outside the ship.

The second I saw the Lunar Whale mount on "sale" I got flashbacks of Fallout 76 when they tried to pull that "sale" crap on items that had never been released before.
