I haven't heard anything like that before. They've said they want to re-run the event but need to schedule it.

I suspect you're getting wires crossed with them bringing back the Rainmaker hair - possibly at the point where he just said something first planned to go in Mog Station was going to the Saucer instead.

I actually assumed the subscription money is going to whatever SE decides but mogstation purchases goes directly to FFXIV.

As a general rule, any time something like that comes up, it is true only on a literal level. If SE can apply money from subs to pay for other projects, but can only spend Mog station money on XIV, then (using hilariously small numbers for illustration purposes only) if they make 100 dollars in subs, and 80 dollars in Mog station purchases, then if they spend 80 dollars less on XIV from sub money than they would if they didn't have the Mog station, they are keeping to the "Mog station only pays for XIV content." in the literal use of the words, but they've reduced the money going into the game by an equivalent amount to suit their ends.

Math without a text block around it for TLDR purposes: (100 dollars from subs, 80 dollars from Mogstation, numbers for illustration purposes only)

Spending without Mogstation: 90 dollars earned from subscriptions, 10 dollars going to other projects.

Spending with Mogstation: 10 dollars earned from subs, 80 dollars from Mog station, 90 dollars going to other projects. All Mogstation money going back into game, don't worry about it.

Space isnt cold, its a vacuum, it only insulates. It seems "cold" as we are exotherms that LOSE heat in space.

Space is a vacuum, vacuum insulates against heat loss, so any popsiclation would take a long time.

Space is definitely cold, and "no heat loss" sounded dubious so I went to that ever-reliable font of knowledge, Wikipedia.

First, from the article on outer space:

The baseline temperature of outer space, as set by the background radiation from the Big Bang, is 2.7 kelvins (−270.45 °C; −454.81 °F).

From the article on Effect of spaceflight on the human body, regarding space environments (just the most relevant bit):

Temperature
In a vacuum, there is no medium for removing heat from the body by conduction or convection. Loss of heat is by radiation from the 310 K temperature of a person to the 3 K of outer space. This is a slow process, especially in a clothed person, so there is no danger of immediately freezing.

This makes a lot more sense. It lacks things like air circulation to move warm air away and new cold air against your body, so the process is slower than in air (and it's the other stuff that's going to kill you), but it is most certainly cold and the physics of heat transferring from a warm thing to a cold thing are still in play.

But the "space isn't cold but it feels cold because we're exotherms so we lose heat" isn't accurate at all. Space IS cold and that is why we lose heat - if it wasn't cold, we wouldn't lose heat to it, and therefore would not feel that it is cold (because in that scenario it isn't).

We don't just lose heat because we're exotherms, either. It would happen to anything: exotherms, endotherms, inanimate objects. If it has a temperature above the surrounding temperature, it will slowly lose heat to it.

A thermos or vacuum flask works on the same principle - the lack of moving air between the layers of the flask will stop heat from easily transferring from the inside surface of the flask to the vacuum and from the vacuum to the outside, but it will still happen gradually.

I’m Not going to lie, iv always thought the cash shop was insane in a pay to play game..... that being said iv payed square soft/enix a sub since FF 11 released in the US so iv payed my fair share. At the end of the day I guess it really don’t matter though. People like to buy stuff and square likes to sell stuff. The more money they make the more likely content will keep flowing. all of the money might not be dumping back into 14 but as long as the updates and xpacs keep rolling it’s all good.

I guess all that to say no one should get bent out of shape over the cash shop, just don’t buy from it like I don’t. Plenty of others will do the buying and the content won’t stop coming.
